Waiting for your Economic Stimulus Payment? You're not alone. Thousands of comments on this site and others indicate many people are waiting for their stimulus payment. So where are the checks?

Double Check Your Facts

You may be confused by the stimulus payment schedule. Who can blame you, it is confusing. However, you need to make sure you have your facts straight before contacting the IRS.

I've made a list of the most common problems/issues with stimulus payments. Items are listed by popularity.

  1. Did you check the payment schedule?

Many people are mistakenly using the direct deposit schedule when they should be using the paper check schedule.  How do you know if you're getting a paper check?  Read on for the most common reasons people are receiving paper checks.

  2. Did you pay in this year?

If you owed the IRS money when you filed your taxes you will probably get a paper check. If your tax preparation software allowed you to enter your direct deposit information to receive the stimulus payment by direct deposit, you MAY receive your payment via direct deposit.

  3. Did you file a tax return this year (for 2007)

You must file a tax return to qualify for the stimulus payment. It's not too late to file. You have until October 15 to file your tax return and claim your stimulus payment.  You may qualify for free filing, especially if you're only filing to get the stimulus payment.

  4. Did you get a refund via direct deposit?

If you did not, then you probably won't get a direct deposit for your stimulus package. There are exceptions, like if you don't normally file taxes.

  5. Did you get your refund on a card?

If you received your refund on some type of credit or debit card, there is a good chance you will receive your payment via check. Many people reported problems with their Emerald Card from H&R Block.

  6. Did you pay a filing fee with your tax refund?

If you paid your filing fee with your tax refund, you will probably get a check. That's because a third party bank received your refund, took out your filing fee and then passed the remainder on to you.

  7. Did you file with TurboTax?

Readers filing with TurboTax reported many issues. If you have questions regarding TurboTax issues you should contact TurboTax.  I have no affiliation with TurboTax.  If you have questions about TurboTax or any other tax preparation software, you should contact the company that makes the software.

TurboTax wasn't the only company who had issues with the stimulus payment.  If you used TaxCut or TaxAct or another tax preparation software you may experience issues with the stimulus payment.  Keep in mind that you should still get your payment, it just might be a check in the mail instead of a direct deposit.

  8. Did you get you get a refund anticipation loan (RAL)?

If you filed your taxes and got your refund right away, you probably used some type of RAL, even if the tax filing place didn't call it that. In this case, you will probably receive a paper check.

  9. Did you make a mistake on your taxes?

If you made a mistake on your taxes and had to file an amended return, you will probably get a paper check.

  10. Did someone else claim your dependent(s)?

I'm surprised by how often this happens. Readers have reported many instances of this problem. If someone else claims your dependent(s), you'll probably have to file some paperwork to clean up the mess. In that case, expect a paper check. You might not even get credit for you dependents this year. In that case, you can claim a tax credit next year.

  11. Did you (or your spouse) owe money for back taxes?

If you owe the IRS money, they are going to take it out of your stimulus check.

  12. Did you (or your spouse) owe money for Child Support?

If you or your spouse owe child support the IRS can deduct this money from your stimulus check. If your spouse owes the money you can file an injured spouse form to claim your half. See this article for other child support questions.

  13. Divorced? Did your ex get the payment?

If you filed jointly for 2007 but are divorced, that money may have been deposited in your ex's bank account. If you get a check, however, it will be made out to both of you. A bank will require both signatures to cash the check.  Remember, the government says that the stimulus payment is split 50/50 between both spouses.

  14. Did you file bankruptcy (chapter 13)?

The trustee may have a claim to your stimulus payment. If they took your rebate, they might also take your stimulus check. I've read varying stories on this. If in doubt, contact your trustee.

  15. Did you move?

Did you move after you filed your taxes? Make sure the Post Office and the IRS have your forwarding address. You can fill out a change of address card at the Post Office to make sure your mail gets sent to your new address.

  16. Have you closed your bank account?

You received a refund via direct deposit, but you've closed that account. The IRS will attempt to deposit your refund in that account. It will get rejected and sent back to the IRS. At that point the IRS will mail a paper check to you.

None of the Above?

If none of these situations applied to you then there is a chance the IRS may have put your money in someone else's account. Make sure you contact the IRS to make sure.  You can contact the IRS by phone, but I recommend talking to the IRS in person.

Remember, if you don't qualify this year, there is a good chance you can qualify next year if your tax situation changes.  You have a second chance to get the money you may not have gotten this time because of mistakes or other problems.  I know it's a pain to wait until next year but there really isn't anything you can do about it.

I hope this article answered your questions on the economic stimulus payment.  If you have more questions, make sure you leave them in the comments below and I'll try to answer them.

Two comments on the rebate payments:

    1. Your #2 states that if you had a balance due on your tax return, you will receive your rebate by check. This is not accurate. Taxpayers had the option of electing direct deposit for their rebate at the time of filing even though they had an amount to pay.

    2. Your #7 suggests that there was a unique problem with TurboTax. This is also inaccurate. TurboTax had no problem with capturing and reporting to the IRS the appropriate rebate information. The reason some customers received their rebate by check is that they elected to pay their preparation fees from their refund. This is the issue you mention in #6. The fact that the IRS decided to issue paper checks to ALL taxpayers who used a bank product (regardless of whether they used TurboTax, a competitive product or went to a tax franchise) is an IRS issue, not a TurboTax one. It is unfortunate, however, that this IRS decision affected TurboTax and other taxpayers alike. But, again, this was not unique to TurboTax customers.

    Bob,
    Thanks for the comments.

    1. Here are the quotes from the IRS site:

    Q. Can I have my stimulus payment direct deposited?

    A. Stimulus payments will be direct deposited for taxpayers who select that option when filing their 2007 tax returns. Taxpayers who already filed and requested direct deposit won't need to do anything else to receive the stimulus payment. Taxpayers who did not request Direct Deposit for their 2007 refund will receive a paper check by mail. The IRS reminds taxpayers who haven't filed their 2007 returns yet that Direct deposit is the fastest way to get both regular refunds and stimulus payments.

    Q. I chose direct debit to pay my tax bill. Will my stimulus payment be direct deposited to the same account?

    A. No, the account information used for an incoming direct debit payment to the IRS cannot be used as the account information for the direct deposit of the stimulus payment. People who choose direct debit to pay a balance due will receive their stimulus payments by paper check through the mail. [Updated 3/3/08]

    Q. I plan to choose direct debit to pay my tax bill. I know my economic stimulus payment will not automatically be direct deposited based upon the direct debit information I've provided to pay my tax bill, but can I also enter direct deposit information to receive my stimulus payment by direct deposit?

    A. Some tax preparation software will allow this, some will not. You will have to make this determination based on your own review of the tax preparation software you use. If the tax software allows you to enter both direct debit (electronic funds withdrawal), as well as direct deposit information, doing so will allow your economic stimulus payment to be direct deposited. [New 3/20/08]

    Source: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=182718,00.html

I've updated #2 to clarify it.

    2. I'm not picking on TurboTax and I know the issues are not isolated to TurboTax. However, I've received a large number of questions regarding TurboTax, so for better or worse, TurboTax gets the spotlight.

Again thanks for the comments, I hope readers have found them useful.

I was due to receive my rebate check on May 30th and I did not get it. It was to be delivered via mail, so I decided to call irs to make sure that there wasn't some mistake on my part. The lady told me that I can expect my check anytime from the date listed on the irs tax schedule according to my social and up to 2 weeks after. She went on to say that not everyone will get there check on the appropriate date listed. So I guess I will just keep waiting and checking.

  4. Ellen Humphrey on June 5, 2008 7:44 pm

I was told I would get my stimulus direct deposit on May 16, 2008. I did not nor have I received it as of yet. I have tried to call the IRS and only get the automated system. They tell me to go to the internet and blah, blah, blah. When I check the internet, they tell me they have no record of my stimulus direct deposit.
What do I do…go directly to the IRS office and will they see me?

    Ellen,
If you can then I would go to the IRS office.

My paper check was supposed to be mailed out on May 30. I had already been checking the site where you could enter your info and see if you qualified at all and what you were supposed to get. It was telling me that we were supposed to get $900. But me and my husband had moved since we had filed our taxes. But we filled out a change of address form months ago and have long since gotton the confirmation of our new address in the mail. However May 30 came and went and now here it is 2 weeks later and we still have received no check and I have spoken the the IRS on the phone She informed me that the check had been sent out but to our OLD address. I've talked to the owners of that place and they "can't remember" if they have returned it or not. SO basically my check is floating around out there without me.

  7. Cast on June 11, 2008 12:07 pm

Help! I checked the IRS pmt schedule on mailed checks and it says mine is going out June 13th..I was under the assumption that my check went out June 6…> does anyone remember it being announced that checks were going out a week earlier??> WTF? I know its only a few days away but I really need it!!

  9. Justin on June 14, 2008 1:20 pm

I had to pay Taxes this year and I had the IRS Direct Debit what I owed from my bank. Now I find out that because I made it EASIER for the IRS to take my money (they grabbed it within a couple days of filing) they wont Direct Deposit my Stimulus Check Read Below From the IRS Web Site:

  10. Kp on June 15, 2008 1:21 pm

i still haven't received my stimulus payment yet and can't really get any info from the IRS about it. the Where's My Stimulus site won't work for my info. i tried to call about 2 weeks ago and all they would say is "it hasn't been processed yet sir". thats it.

i received a Stimulus Payment Notification, but it was generic, it didn't have my name of my specific info on it. so i guess it could still go out by mail (though i'm sure i signed up for direct deposit when i did my taxes online) but at this point i'd just be content to know i'll even get one eventually. i checked by phone and i don't have any debts against my name, sooo i'm not really sure what's going on with it. any words of wisdom out there or anyone have any guesses?

i guess i'll try and call them again this week and see if they can tell me anything else besides "it hasn't been processed".

  11. Chris on June 15, 2008 6:04 pm

    Kp,
That's about all you can do at this point.
    Good Luck!

  12. nette on June 15, 2008 11:57 pm

ok i owe the irs back taxes from my 2007 tax return so i figured i wouldnt get the stiulus payment. just for fun i checked the irs "where's my stimulus payment" page and it said my check would be mailed out on june 27.the amount was figured and all so do u think i will still get it?

  13. Chris on June 16, 2008 9:45 am

    nette,
If the IRS is going to take money out of your stimulus payment, you should receive a letter. I've written a new post about IRS withholding money from stimulus payment checks.
    Good Luck!

  14. Kp on June 16, 2008 9:53 am

thanks for the responses. i persued the site some more and read about the problems people have had if they filed with turbotax, which i did. so it sounds like i may just waiting on a papercheck. i do have students loans, but they are just currently deferred for another month and i've never been delinquent on them and i won't be when i start paying them again. so hopefully they won't just apply it to those. and i never received a notification saying they would.

but again, thanks for the answers on this site. i'm grateful there's someone out there addressing questions.

  15. nette on June 17, 2008 11:02 am

ok my stimulus check has been sent out was what the irs told me this morning.i am getting my entire stimulus check and yes i do owe 2160 to the irs from my 2007 return. so i guess somtimes u slip through the cracks huh chris?

  16. Rob on June 19, 2008 4:22 pm

I was supposed to recieve my stimulus check on the May 30th mailing but have not yet. Back in 2003 I settled with an "Offer in Compromise" for previously owed taxes. It was settled and accepted by the IRS in 2003. Could this have anything to do with not receiving a check?

    Thanks

    WERES MY CHECK

  18. JUDY on June 20, 2008 5:47 pm

My son's ss ends in 05. The web says it should be mailed June 16. When I go to the "Wheres my stimulus check?" it says they have no information that matches his return.
What's up? He owed them and sent a check and they sure cashed his check. So, Im pretty sure they got the return.

  19. Judy on June 20, 2008 6:09 pm

My son's ss ends in 05. Check should have been mailed May16. He owed and sent a check with his return. I checked the "Wheres my Stimulus check?" site and the response says they have no information that matches his return. Check has been cashed, so the received the return.

  20. Eveline Lakins on June 22, 2008 1:52 pm

My husband and I filed jointly, I received a notice send just to me that I could expect the stimulus check by the begin of May, my ss ends with 04, my husband's ss is higher, could that be the reason why we haven't received ours yet?? We filed our taxes begin Feb. and received our refund by the end of March.

  21. Chris on June 22, 2008 1:53 pm

    Eveline Lakins,
Whose name is listed first on the return? That's whose SSN is used to determine the mailing date.

  22. jay on June 22, 2008 7:28 pm

I am currently in chapter 13. I was not really expecting stimulus rebate check, but went on IRS website today and noticed that instead of the usual "unable to give any info" that I had been getting, it says that our payment will be sent out by July 4. Does that mean that we will get it, or can trustee still take it? I just hate to get excited, but like everyone else, could really use the money. Thanks!

  23. Chris on June 22, 2008 7:34 pm

    Jay,
If the trustee took your tax rebate then I would expect the same with your stimulus check.

Some people have reported that if the check is sent directly to them, they keep it, otherwise the trustee gets it.

    Every case is unique.
    Good Luck!

  24. Mary Lee on June 22, 2008 11:42 pm

My SS ends in 05 also and should have been mailed May 16th. I mailed my tax forms with payment in full on April 14th. Check was cashed within 3 days. I do not have any outstanding federal debt at all. I received a letter over a month ago saying I was getting a check. I don't remember it having a date. I have not received my check and calling IRS tells me they have no info. Same if I use the online form. Closest office is 2 hours away. You would think they would have an easier way to handle real problems.

  27. George F. Huth on June 24, 2008 10:11 am

How is it determined what a husband and wife receive for pmt. $600 or $1200?

  28. Chris on June 24, 2008 10:21 am

    George F. Huth,
It's based on your income and tax liability. For instance if you didn't pay any tax, the most you will get is $300.

  29. Chris on June 24, 2008 10:23 am

    Misty,
Did you file a change of address form with the post office? Your stimulus check should get forwarded with the rest of your mail.

  30. Mary Lee on June 24, 2008 11:01 am

A husband and wife who file jointly, paid taxes and qualify will get $1200.

  31. misty on June 24, 2008 12:16 pm

Chris, Yes,I filed a change of address with my post office, and I haven't even got my letter saying when we will get it.

  35. Chris on June 24, 2008 2:51 pm

    Crystal,
I'm not sure. Just to be safe assume it will be mailed on the 27th. If you get it earlier, then you'll have a pleasant surprise.

  37. Camilla on June 24, 2008 7:26 pm

I am giving up! I got a letter saying that I will receive $600 (it will be by check as I owed tax), my SS# ends with 17 so the check should have been mailed out May 23. I have not moved. What is going on?

  38. Chris on June 24, 2008 8:30 pm

    Camilla,
    Have you contacted the IRS?

  39. Mary Lee on June 25, 2008 10:52 am

Unless something has changed, they do not forward government checks. I think you need to contact the IRS at the 1040 number and talk to them about it. We had this happen once and it took us months to clear it up and get our check.

Mine was supposed to be mailed on May 16th and they have no record of me. Letter was received a long time ago. I mailed my taxes on the 15th with full payment. It appears that they may be processing payment for returns received after April 15th last. Kinda nuts if you ask me. They had my check cashed within 3 days of me sending it!

  40. Mary Lee on June 25, 2008 11:11 am

    This by the IRS:

If you moved in the past 6 months, the IRS may not have your current address. Rebate Checks cannot be forwarded to another address. You must contact the IRS by calling 800-829-1040 or visiting its website

  41. steven rhoten on June 25, 2008 11:02 pm

Well where is mine? my husbands last to digits of his social are 76 and it says July 4 but like I said everyone else has theirs early, why not the rest of us? I always do my taxes by H&R Block, and they put in my address because it changes every year. Does that have something to do with it?

Be patient. Wait until the payment date, then worry about it.
    Good Luck!

I am in chapter 13 bankruptcy. I have been trying to find out if my trustee is going to intercept our stimulus check. For some reason I can't get a straight answer from anyone. I did, as someone suggested, call the Insolvency Section of the IRS to see if there is a hold on our check. Under both mine and my husband's SS# it says that there are no holds on our check. We received a letter from the IRS today that said we would get it by July 4th. Has anyone else been in this situation? Is this Insolvency Section accurate with their information? Could we really get our check by Friday? I had been advised that the trustee would probably take our stimulus check, so the letter and message on the Insolvency Section offered me a lot of hope, as we could really use this money. Sorry to have rambled, and thanks for any help!

  48. Julie on July 1, 2008 9:46 am

I received a letter from the irs stating that I should receive my stimulus check by July 5. My last two digits are #77. I want to know if my stimulus check will be mailed out on the 4, which is a holiday and the 5 of July is a Saturday. After reading information on the the irs.gov, it states that rebate checks are mailed on Monday's, Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Friday's. When will I get my check?

  56. Dee on July 2, 2008 10:14 pm

If you owe back taxes, the IRS site says the stimulus payment may be delayed or amount owed deducted. However, we are in Chapter 13 (since '05) (have only a few months remaining) and just received notification a few months ago that our income for 2006 return was under-reported and we owe $6500+, (we have recently sent in cost basis for stock options bought/sold in same transaction to prove we reported correctly – although it has not been corrected on their end yet.) Anyway, we were to have gotten a return of $469 and have not gotten it. The "where's my refund" states their was a delay in processing. However, we received our $1500 stimulus check today. It is made out to us, but was sent to our CH13 attorney's office and he called to let us know he was sending to us but that we needed to sign it over to the trustee. Therefore, just because the IRS says you owe back taxes does not necessarily mean they will keep your stimulus payment. However, for those who are also in a CH13 and wondering if you have the right to keep it, I agree that it is probably up to the trustee in your case. My advise would be to call your trustee and ask them, which is what I am going to do in the morning. It would be so tempting to cash it & spend it if it comes to you, but better to be honest & check with your trustee than to keep it and trustee find out and close your case for failure to comply (if part of your CH13 directed your taxes to go to the trustee). When I get an answer from my trustee, I will post what he says. However, I am sure each trustee will have his/her own opinion/decision/requirement, so again, best to call and ask for certain. Sorry this was so long!

Our stimulus letter says that we will receive our check no later than july,5. It figures that it would be a holiday weekend, the gov. should have mailed them earlier, but why make it so nice and easy for the American people!

  62. helen on July 7, 2008 12:17 pm

i was supposed to get mine by july 5th and here it is monday and it didnt come in the mail..

  63. Jill on July 7, 2008 3:23 pm

I am livid right now because i just found out that I will not get my stimulus check because my name in my SS card is different from what I used to file my return. If they had a problem with my name now, why the heck did they send me my return using the same name I've been using eversince I pay my taxes? It will take you ages to contact somebody from IRS, then the person I talked to said its my problem and I can't change anything right now!!! How is that fair? Does anybody know how I can fix this?

  64. Chris on July 7, 2008 5:29 pm

    Jill,
You probably can't fix it, but you can claim a tax credit when you file your 2007 taxes in 2008.

  65. San on July 7, 2008 5:50 pm

    Monday, no check

  66. Nee on July 7, 2008 8:12 pm

  67. Nancy Rios on July 7, 2008 9:21 pm

I'v been through a divorce and after 21 years found myself filing alone this year now living on my own I depending on this check to help me with the bills I have here it is the 7th of July my last 2# are 90 I drive everyday to the Post office to find NO CHECK, where is it? I've been patiently waiting all this time..

  68. Jill on July 8, 2008 10:06 pm

Thank you so much Chris… I appreciate your response. for the meantime, i guess i'll have to straighten this out with the SS folks so i won't have to have this same problem in the future. It's just frustrating and aggrevating. Thanks again.

  69. Josephine A Sizer on July 10, 2008 3:32 pm

  70. Chris on July 10, 2008 4:00 pm

    Josephine A Sizer,
You should be receiving your stimulus payment shortly. You're scheduled to get in on July 11th.

  71. Dawn on July 10, 2008 6:01 pm

I am scheduled to receive my stimulus 7/11 will I have it that day, irs says they are mailing it by that day, just curious.I have not received it yet.

  72. fingers crossed on July 11, 2008 6:22 am

My letter said "Mailed by" the 4th… I received the letter today (7/10) although I hadn't checked the mail since Saturday, I believe, so the letter could've come earlier. I didn't expect the check until at least the end of this week but now I'm getting nervous b/c I've heard not all post offices will forward checks. We've moved since we filed our return and we did change-of-address with the post office but not with the IRS. The rebate letter was forwarded but I'm so worried the check won't be. I heard it takes 4 weeks for the check to get returned and weeks to process a change-of-address with the IRS so we could be looking at another 6-8 weeks. I needed the check like yesterday!!! We put our direct deposit info on our return but apparently the IRS didn't honor that (we didn't get a refund this year b/c we had to pay up but we are getting $2100… eventually…).
Anyone else have this issue? Was your check forwarded or did you have to wait even longer???

  73. Mary Lee on July 11, 2008 11:56 am

If your letter states a date, that means it will get there the next week. It will say you will get it that day, but that appears to be the mailing date. Mine said 4th, but I received it on the 9th. My SS # ended in 05 and I was supposed to be mailed early last month. Mine came a month late. So DO NOT count on that check until you have it in your hands.

Lastly, the post office WILL NOT forward a check from the IRS. They are not allowed to. If the person to receive the check does not reside at the address it is sent to, then it is returned to the IRS. If you have moved, you MUST contact the IRS and you can count on being put through the ringer and a long delay to get his corrected and get your check. It once took me almost 8 months to get a change of address and get my IRS refund, due ot it.

  74. Wynne on July 12, 2008 6:11 pm

Why are you all complaining? My last digits are 11, no check , no letter, and no help on website or automated system. What gives?

  75. AV on July 14, 2008 12:08 pm

I changed my address with the post office about two weeks ago. Does the post office share information with the IRS. My last 2 digits in my SS is 88. Approximatly how long will it take me to get my check in the mail

  76. Chris on July 14, 2008 1:11 pm
  77. Mary Lee on July 14, 2008 1:52 pm

I have stated it many times in this blog, but people don't read it.

THE POST OFFICE WILL NOT FORWARD ANY IRS CHECKS!

  78. jacqueline on July 15, 2008 12:28 pm

You need to contact the IRS.

  80. Kelly on July 16, 2008 1:25 am

Ok, I have read many many posts about this stimulus check BS.. and just to let some of you know… who are asking about change of addresses and such… I have been thru hell and back for over a month with the IRS! My check was mailed on June 6th to the CORRECT address BUT my mailman sent it back as undeliverable for some UNKNOWN reason?! I found this out about 1 1/2 weeks later, when my check didn't come in the mail… so I called the IRS, they had to "update" the address even tho it was correct… I was told that the computer would have to update the system before it would reissue my check but that I would have my check within 3-4 weeks. That was 3 weeks ago.. I was told to call back in 2 weeks because the system should have updated by then and they could tell me if my check had been mailed yet.. So, I call back today to find out that it was NEVER processed, so AGAIN I was told it will be 3-4 weeks! And this is after I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the smart mouth that works for the IRS asked me "What good is that gonna do you?" and HUNG UP on me! The IRS seriously needs to get their shit together!

THE IRS REPS R SO F*CKIN RUDE!!

  83. Jill on July 18, 2008 9:31 am

I feel everybody's pain. I posted a message here a few weeks back about my case. My problem was my name. According to IRS, my SS# is invalid because according to the RUDE IRS rep on the phone (after 7 attempts to call, finally I spoke to a human being) my records don't even show up in their system. I said how can that be, I get my ITR yearly and I never heard nor was I notified about this problem. I do my own taxes and when I tried to use H&R Block, they told me I need to fix it with SS office. SS office said I had no problem and my records are showing fine in their system so It should be ok to file my taxes without any problems. Frustrated I filed it on my own again. Now the bitch who I was talked to on the phone said that I should have listened to H&R Block and that "Tough luck" I'll never get my check because its too late to fix my problem. I said how come you send me my Return yearly, she said, you can file a return and use somebody else's # and you will still get it… WHAT?!!!!! for somebody who works at IRS to admit that I can use a dead man's SS# to get a return blows my mind!!! She even said that the stimulus check is a gift and that not everybody is entitled. If your records don't match then you are not eligible!!! And worse, she said "Don't worry, millions of people have the same problem as yours"… Now should that make me feel better?! Knowing the fact that millions of people will not get their check because of lack of information on their part? I had to go to the local IRS office and even they were puzzled about my problem. They told me that the SS office's file is the problem and that I ned to fix it with them. Went to SS and they said my name is ok and that they are the master file and it does show my records. After going back and forth with the 2 offices, missing work for 2 days finally IRS said they are going to forward my case to a different office. They explained that that when this stimulus program was approved, they had to blindly implement it and that they admittedly do not know how to handle cases like mine. They can't tell if I'll even get my check this year or next year. The author of this blog at least adviced me that If I don't get it this year, I may be able to get it next year. Now that I am calmer and more rational about this problem with IRS, I feel there is hope for me to get my money and that I got the answer I was wanting to hear. I am just frustrated about the fact that if they want your money (via tax) they can harrass you to no end just so they get it and even put you to jail, but if you are "entitle" to get money from them, You are "suppose" to wait until they feel like working on your case! and my friends ask me why don't I vote… because no matter who sits, nothing changes in the gov't system.

  89. DXL on July 21, 2008 7:19 pm

Well Child Support took mine. Both the mother and I have (Opos)blood, and the childs blood is(Bpos). We went to court, and a DNA is to be performed. My caseworker is a real B**ch.She says I didn't go,but I did. The testers had left at 4:pm, and the mother and I didn't get released separately until around 4:10pm.So we will have to have another referral. To make things short, I went to the hospital where the child was born, and requested "BIRTH RECORDS". It states both child and mother's type blood. My blood type is (Opos).HA HA,also the lab that I used is the same lab "TOMMIE RAE",James Brown Jr's DNA used. Therefore if my results are wrong, then so is JB's. Yes if the child isn't mine,I would like to be reimbursed. One last thing, I'll always be there for the child. The mother shouldn't be so $$$HUNGRY. GOD don't like UGLY!! Do you feel my hurt?

  90. DXL on July 22, 2008 6:30 am

I've heard that there could possibly be a second stimulus payment. How true is that? I also wrote to you guys/gals yesterday about the situation of blood test/CS.Is it possible for me to be reimbursed the $$$ that I've paid into this "Child", he may not be mine? Also could the judge order the mother to pay it back in same case, or would CS enforce the mother to be garnished by her job/and FED. taxes?

  91. soconfused on July 26, 2008 10:24 pm

I have been waiting on my rebate since july 5 and have called the irs several times now they tell me to call back august 1 and they will intial a trace which takes another 30 days! I'm just givin up on even gettin the check!

  92. Kelly on July 27, 2008 10:23 am

Ok, here's an update for you all.. I've been waiting on my check since JUNE 6th..(story of what I've been through above).. As of today, I still do not HAVE my check, BUT, I finally received a letter Friday, July 25th, stating I would have another check issued and it could take up to 30 days for me to get it. SO, IF for any reason you have your check returned as undeliverable and you have to wait on another one… you might just have to wait 2-3 months longer.. like I did! Sad part is, it was my mailmans fault in the first place… but since the mailman messed up.. the IRS is taking their dear sweet time, as usual. So, I should have my check sometime in AUGUST! Good luck to everyone.. I will update once I find out more, or receive my check!!

  93. Kelly on July 27, 2008 10:26 am

SOCONFUSED: Go to this web address (it's for the stimulus payment status), log in with your info and see if there is a message for you. This is how I found out mine was returned by the post office. If there is a message for you.. it will tell you to call the irs, and they will help you then. Good luck!

  100. Bilked on August 9, 2008 5:14 pm

My last SS digits are 97 and have still not received my check. I dont fit into any of the listed issues and I keep checking their online system which gives me the same response, "Sorry no information available…"

As if the $300 – $600 wasnt a spit in the face to begin with it doesnt help when they cant even put it in the mail.

Ive called several times but have been unable to actually speak with a live rep as Ive been on hold everytime for more than an hour.

Just venting… Its been more than 2 weeks after the listed mail date and I still have not receive my check.

    What should I do?

  101. Chris on August 9, 2008 7:12 pm

    Bilked,
If you're close to an IRS office you should go in and talk to them.

My husband is owed several hundred in back child support, why has he not recieved a check from hi exs stimulas payment? When can he expect it?

  103. Mary on August 13, 2008 11:03 am

We have been waiting since June 27th for our check. We went to the IRS dept and filled out a form that they said could take 6-8 weeks to trace and then there is still no guarantee we will get it.
How hard is it to trace these things? I have worked in the financial world so I know that you can put a stop payment and reissue a check.
It seems they don't care if they owe you, but if you owe them they are always harassing you for their money.
There should be a better way to get everyone their checks. We all need the money at least when the economy is like it is.

  107. Joseph on November 17, 2008 5:40 pm

My wife and I were supposed to receive our check in July. I called in October b/c we had not received it yet. The IRS verified my address and said they would send a new check out. They said to expect it to arrive within 6 weeks. It has not arrived within 6 weeks, so i called back and they said the check was being withheld at the moment but couldn't give me any details about why it was not being sent. They also said they would send me a letter within 30 days explaining why the check is on hold. Could someone have already cashed my check without my ID? Why would it be on hold? Is there anything else I can do? Thanks for any info regarding this matter.
