Or…A penny saved is a Penny earned. It's simple, the more you can save, the more you have at your disposal. You can then turn that into even more money. But you have to save first and be smart about it. I'm going to cover just a few ideas here that will help you keep more money in your pocket. That's half the battle.

Entertainment-Stop buying DVDs. I'm talking to you guys who have 10 million vhs tapes and DVDs that you bought retail. How many times can you actually watch a movie? Sure, there are a few you could watch over and over, but I bet most of them simply collect dust. It's fine if you can afford it, but the truth is most people doing this can't. You will be amazed how much money you save by simply stopping this purchase. These days it's easy to save on TV/Movie entertainment thanks to places like HULU.com. Watch the stuff for free.

Food-Buy the "generic" brands if you want to save some money. Most of the time they taste just as good because they are made by actual name brand companies. You are paying extra for brand names. Combine this with coupons and you are keeping more of your hard earned money.

Don't be afraid to complain-If the service or item that you paid for is sub-par, you have every right to get your money back. But don't turn it into a hobby. That's not cool. Just don't pay for something that isn't what it's supposed to be.

Dollar stores-These stores are great for all kinds of food. The same stuff from the store, but cheaper. You can also get deals on household supplies like toilet paper etc.

Video games-If you or your kid plays video games, it's just like the DVD situation. You beat them and then they just sit around forever. Make sure you recycle the cash that you laid out for the game by trading it back into a gamestop type store, where you can have some of that money back or have it go toward another game. If you do it that way, you are paying less for the game and are basically just renting it.

I could go on and on, but that's enough for now. Maybe I'll do a part 2 soon. These are just some basic examples of how I became more prosperous and paid off a lot of debt in a relatively short amount of time. It's common sense stuff that doesn't hurt your lifestyle at all.
