Now the IRS is sending out stimulus checks via mail to those who didn't qualify for the direct deposit. Now some people are asking, "where is my stimulus check?" I'll help you find out.
Check the Payment Schedule
Your stimulus check will be mailed based on the payment schedule below. Most people (including me) have received their check right on time. Please double check this schedule to see when your payment will be mailed.

Mailing Date is Based on Social Security Number of the First Taxpayer
The mailing date of the stimulus payment is based on the social security number of the person listed first on the tax return. Use the last 2 digits of the first taxpayer's social security number to find your payment date in the table above.
Was There An Error on Your Tax Return?
If you made a mistake on your tax return, it will delay the processing of your stimulus payment. You need to fix the error. Most people can correct mistakes using Form 1040X (PDF on IRS.gov). Once you've filed an amended return with the IRS, your stimulus check should be sent within 12 weeks.
I Moved after I Filed My Tax Return
If you've moved, you need to notify the post office of your new address. You should file a change of address form with the post office. You can change your address online at usps.com.
Don't contact the post office and ask them where your stimulus check is. The post office doesn't know where your stimulus check is just like they don't know where your garbage bill is.
I Should Have Received My Check by Now
If you've checked the schedule above and you should have received you payment by now, you should contact the IRS. However, contacting the IRS regarding the stimulus payment is easier said than done.

You can contact the IRS by phone. You should be prepared to wait. The IRS is swamped with calls regarding the stimulus package. You'll have better luck going to the IRS office yourself. You can find your local IRS office on the IRS.gov "Contact My Local Office" page.
But I Don't Want to Deal with the IRS
I understand you might be hesitant to go talk to the IRS. A visit to the local IRS office doesn't necessarily top the list of fun things to do. However, only the IRS can help you with your stimulus check problems. You need to talk to the IRS to figure out the problem.

My wife and I filed joint tax return first of April. Last number of SS is 94 & 58 respectively. Our SSA checks are on direct deposit. Our bank statement does not show we have received stimulus check. When will we receive it? How can I contact IRS by mail regarding this?

For those of you who think you should have received your check by now based on your SSN, the other factor that may be delaying it is if you used some sort of Tax software (like TurboTax). If you did, then you fall in the paper check category.
I have not received my stiulus check yet. My last 2 digits are 60. I should have received the check by June 20th. My roommates last 2 digits are 76 and she has received her check. Can you please advise me. Thank you.

I am a widow – I knew I would be penalized for that – but thought I would receive at least $600 but only received $300. Sons filed returns – one with income the other with SS benefits – nothing received as of July 7, 2008. Tried to reach IRS at toll free number and the message says they are too busy to take call and then disconnects you. Is there another number to call which would answer my questions. Thank you.

Are you saying that your sons filed your return or are you asking about your son's return?
As for you payment of $300, that sounds correct. You would only get the full $600 if you had a tax liability.
If you still have questions and you're close to your local IRS office, you should go in and talk to them.

Make sure you've filed your taxes first. Grab a copy of your tax return and call the IRS. They should be able to help you.

I heard there was a second stimulus check. I have heard three people say that they have received it. I want to know if there are any others that received a second check? The check is suppose to be the same amount as the first one was.

We received the letter but never received a check. I called the IRS on July 11th and they initiated a trace on the check they sent out. I hope to God no one got it and cashed it. He said it would take up to six weeks and to call back then. If someone did cash it I guess I could file a complaint with a federal agent of the IRS or FBI, not sure.

If you owe the IRS money, they'll take it out of our check. If you owe them as much or more than your stimulus payment you won't get a check.

The tax agency that did my tax had my money direct deposited into an account they have set up with the irs so that i can get it back in a short amount of time. Does this mean that my stimulus check will also be deposited into that account? because they told me no it will be mailed directly to me. but accodring to what i read above it ususlly goes into the original account. Should have gotten a check end of June. I filed through Turbo tax. I was married in 2007 and filed jointly but divorced in 2008 and filed as head of household. My last name has also recently changed, as I am remarried. I had my tax money directly deposited in my bank account and I have a different mailing address than I did in 2007, How is it that they can so easily mess up sending me owed money but if I owe them…. they sure can find me no matter where I am.
