Last week I asked if you tipped for bad service. Now let's take a look at some of the tricks that waiters use to get good tips. You may think that you are tipping the waiter based on the quality of service they provided, but that's not always the only factor. Waiters have several techniques for maximizing tips. Here are a few:
Smile. It's simple. The more friendly a waiter is, the more you feel at ease.
Hi, my name is so and so….Again it's friendly. You are on a first name basis. As long as it's genuine.
Squat next to the table. It sounds weird, but by mimicing our posture, they establish better eye contact and bring their faces closer to ours. We associate this with greater rapport.
