Baby products are being recalled left and right. Now Toys "R" Us is offering a financial incentive to parents to trade in used cribs, bassinets, play yards, car seats etc. Fewer than 30% of recalled baby items are actually turned in. So many unsafe baby items are still being used. Toys R Us wants to do something about that.
It's officially called the "Great Trade-In" and it starts Friday, Aug. 28. You'll get a 20% discount when you buy new baby items.
The program applies to used cribs, car seats, bassinets, strollers, travel systems, play yards and high chairs and runs through Sept. 20 at all Babies "R" Us and Toys "R" Us locations in the U.S. Just trade in a used item from the list and you'll get 20% off on the purchase of a new item on the list. There's no limit on how many items you can trade in. It will save you some money and possibly get a dangerous product out of circulation. Sixteen manufacturers are participating, so you'll have a nice selection.
