If you're waiting for another direct stimulus check, forgot about it. Obama doesn't have plans to send you one. Instead, he's going to change the bulbs in all the federal buildings. That should get the economy moving, right?
Obama has publicly stated his 4 priorities:
- "a massive effort to make public buildings more energy-efficient"
- "the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s"
- "the most sweeping effort to modernize and upgrade school buildings that this country has ever seen"
- "renew our information highway"
In other words, a lot of pork barrel spending for unions. It appears Obama is going to try to stimulate the economy with massive infrastructure spending.
So it might be a good time to consider a job in construction. Especially if you can find a union job.
While the plan might stimulate the economy in the long run, there is no plan to send direct stimulus payments to citizens.
So instead of looking for a handout today, maybe we should consider the crushing debt load that the United States government is about to take on. Our children's children's children are going to be paying off this debt.
Will this help the economy? Well it will help the construction industry. It will probably spur the economy. However, in the long run what impact will the massive government debt have on the economy? We just can't keep spending our way out of every crisis. At some point the US will have to pay its bills.
As an advocate of personal financial responsibility, how can I with a clear conscious suggest that getting into debt to "stimulate the economy" is a good idea? I can't and I won't. This is a bad idea.
Bailing out the banks was a bad idea and bailing out the automakers is a bad idea. We keep throwing good money after bad. At some point, we need to take our medicine. The US needs to pay off the national debt and become financially responsible.
This is the best policy for long term economic growth.

No he is not going to send the working class people of the united states another stimulus check, instead he is going to go against his campaign promises and help all the banks and large companies that do NOT know how to manage there money and keep there companies afloat. What a mistake to have elected him to finish running this country in the ground!!!!
