Many people have asked about the status of another stimulus check. What is the status of another payment? Are we likely to see another stimulus package?
The short answer is probably not. The first stimulus check took a massive effort.
The stimulus check helped a lot of people catch up on bills, spend frivolously on toys and gadgets and some others just went on vacation and got drunk.
I think lawmakers are hesitant to pass another direct stimulus package. The first one was so confusing, it left many with a negative impression.
There is also the lame duck issue. Congress and President Bush are both lame ducks, meaning they are just about done. Their is little change that they will act quickly to pass another stimulus package.
Most of the plans under consideration involve increasing government spending on infrastructure (roads and bridges) or increasing benefits (unemployment, etc). There are some calls for tax breaks but those don't have much support.
So don't plan on the government giving you a merry Christmas this year. You are on your own.

I feel that the only good decision Bush did was hand out the stimulous check. My mom made to much money to even qualify for the check and that made me feel "wow someone is helping out the people who really need it" Let me tell you I truley needed it, and now how bad the economy is I need it more this year then I did last.
WE ALL NEED A CHECK TO HELP PAY BILLS AND HAVE REPAIRS DONE THAT WE NEED/I WORK ON AUTOMOBILES IN A DEALERSHIP,I WORK ON COMMISSION,THAT MEANS I ONLY GET PAID IF SOMEONE IS GETTING THER VEHICLE SERVICED.WE NEED THE HELP OF THE GOVT AND THE PEOPLE.

I don't know why they concentrate on the big 3 to bail them out. I think this is more of a mis management on the 3 carmakers part, when their competitors are doing so well. Also, with a second stimulus, with the 34 billion dollars that they are requesting, they should divide and allocate that money to the working class from 18 years old and above and depending on the income bracket is how they will give out that bail out to us. Then, in condition that all of us will be paying all of our debts first, and with all credit cards, nobody can use credit cards for a year, and the first-timers who applies for a card will be given be the only ones given and can use the cards. How we will repay that money? Well, after five years of debt free we will start to pay whatever is left and with that amount they are giving us, almighty taxes will still be taken out and given out to the government. Better yet, with whatever they give us to stay afloat, they can just make it as a deficit if we will not pay it back. But knowing the government, they still want that money back, but geez, compared to the money they have spent in IRAQ war, i think that is not even a half of it. So, I was just thinking that this is a good idea. That we get maybe 100k each or more depending on what bracket we are at and then we will all be happy. What beats me though, I am a die-hard Obama supporter, is when he said he will be building infrastractures, what? Why would he just give money to the people who want to start their own businesses? That is more feasible to me, don't you think?
I made a mistake on my tax return. Therefore did not get a stimulus check. Because I didnt claim myself. I filed a 1040X and fixed it. I did recieve a check for a higher rebate but never got the 600 dollar stimulas check. I was told I can get it this year HOW???
yea its now 2009 i never recieved my 2008 stimulis check.. what a ripp off!
I was divorced in March 2008. I moved from Wisconsin to Phoenix and the check went to my exhusband in Wisconsin. He was able to deposit the check in his account without my signature and received 1800.00 and I received nothing!
I want to make sure I receive my stimulus check this year and that I some how get the half of the check from last year. I pay more than he does for our children and it's so unfair. I cover the medical bills, their cell phone bills and anything else they call and ask me for. Where's my share of the money I make to support my children?
