The IRS has created a new web page to help you track the status of your stimulus payment. This should help answer a lot of those "where's my stimulus payment" questions.

The web page is located on the IRS web site. Here is the link to the Where's My Stimulus Payment? page.

You will need 3 pieces of information to track your stimulus payment. You need your social security number, your filing status (single, joint, etc) and you need to know the number of exemptions you claimed. All of this information is on your copy of your tax return.

You Can't Track Your Payment Unless It's Your Scheduled Payment Time

The IRS says that you will NOT be able to track your payment until the time when your payment is scheduled.

From the IRS Site:

We recommend checking the Payment Schedule prior to using this application since your payment information will not be available on this tool until the time that your payment is scheduled.

So you need to use the official payment schedule to determine when you receive your payment. However, supposedly the IRS is ahead of schedule and you may get your payment sooner.

My SSN ends in 00-20 – according to the IRS site, my payment is scheduled to be sent to my bank account today, which is May 2. I went to the updated IRS site, entered my information, and was directed to a page telling me that I may have made a mistake. I tried it a few times, and received the same message. I contacted two of my colleagues who have told me that their SSN ends in 00-20 and who also received their tax return via direct deposit, and they received the same message on this site. Is there a problem?

    Kendra,
I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm asking readers to post any questions about the IRS Where's My Payment Tool to this new article:

  4. C-BEE on May 2, 2008 10:15 am

My numbers are between 00-20 too and I haven't received anything. I also used direct deposit when I processed my tax return. I tried to check the status and it keeps telling me that I made a mistake even when I press continue…. Oh well….

  5. Jai on May 2, 2008 10:15 am

My ss# also ends in 00-20 & I have been waiting for my deposit & nothing has been deposited. I even called the 866# & was then advised that it is now scheduled for release on around May 23rd. Nothing that has been put out has been accurate in my book.

  6. Chrissy on May 2, 2008 11:39 am

I haven't received my expected direct deposit either today. Go figure…so much for early checks being sent out. I'm not holding my breath anymore! Most likely we will have to wait until next week for any direct deposits I'm guessing.

  7. Amanda on May 2, 2008 11:44 am

My social ends in 00-20 category as well and I filed my income tax in January so I thought I would be one of the first to get it. Nothing so far and the website also tells me I made a mistake! :( Very frustrating, especially since there was information stating they would start depositing on the 28th of April.

  8. Lance on May 2, 2008 12:12 pm

Looks like im in the same boat as you all. Its bull$*** that the government creates a link that does not work. Why even put it up? I love this country just hate the people that run it…

  9. Jai on May 2, 2008 12:37 pm

Just spoke to a rep from the IRS & this is what I was advised. If you e-filed your taxes & you were charged a fee, your payment will be mailed to you. So I filed through taxact e-file & was charged $31.95. Because this was done my rebate will be mailed. I hope this information helps many of you, like me who have been waiting & getting frustrated. If you want an exact date you can call the hot line @ 866-234-2942.

  10. Amanda on May 2, 2008 12:38 pm

    To Jai…
Does that mean if you filed with direct deposit from H&R block it will be mailed?

  11. christena on May 2, 2008 12:40 pm

this sucks……I just read on the IRS website that if you had an RAL when you filed (as I did) you will not be getting direct deposit even if you got your federal direct deposited after they took out the RAL fees , but you will get a paper check mailed instead…. hope this helps….

  12. peaches on May 2, 2008 1:01 pm

My ss ends in 18 and I still haven't received my check. My taxes are always direct deposit. has anyone with these two numbers received their money yet?

  13. Jai on May 2, 2008 1:11 pm

Amanda, all I was told was that if you e-filed. I would imagine if you filed on the H&R block site they would have used e-file but you may want to confirm this.

  15. Kevin on May 2, 2008 3:01 pm

well i called the number and they couldnt even provide information there, just like on the irs site.

  16. Anne on May 2, 2008 4:27 pm

When you go to the irs link "where is my stimulus payment" it gives you a msg you have made a mistake. I have checked my information like 5 tiems. There is no mistake. All my info is correct. The link does not work. I really wish they would fix it and give you the correct info, so that you know when your money is coming. Last two of my social are between 21-75, so I suppose I will keep my fingers crossed that it comes next fri 5/9??? Maybe?? Maybe not??? Very strange how IRS is handling this…

  17. Chris on May 2, 2008 5:03 pm

Yeh We're sorry you can't go out to dinner tonight kids ,I know we promised you some money this week, but we suck, and we know you know it, but hang in there we might throw you a bone next week, but i wouldn't hold my hand on my @$$ while you wate if I were you. Hope this helps , or you could call 1-866-we know nothing and that should answer any or none of you Questions.

  18. Nicole on May 3, 2008 8:12 am

My SSN is in the range of the 00-20 category and I am get to get anything. I have also tried the irs track your refund link and it did not work. It told me to check for mistakes, which I did and then I submitted. It said that my information could not be found and then it said check the schedule and wait two weeks from then. So I guess that I might see something on the 16th. Who knows!!!!

  19. michele on May 3, 2008 12:21 pm

I checked this morning in my bank account and nothing. I was scheduled to get mine yesturday. I don't know how this is working with married filing jointly. I know one person who has gotten it so far and she filed a 1040EZ. I heard that it's going by what 1040 a person filed. I also heard that if you went through a company (taxact, turbotax JH, H&R block and so on) that it's going to take longer. I think it's the govn't way of messing with us and torturing us once again.

  20. Jolene on May 3, 2008 1:44 pm

I GOT THE ANSWERS!! If you got direct deposit by Santa Barbara Bank – your check will be batched with the mail outs …. IRS does not consider these anticipation loan programs to be their own direct deposit.

  21. Jennifer on May 4, 2008 5:22 pm

I'm in the 00-20 SS# block. Still have not received the check. I tried the Where's my Stimulus Payment on the IRS' Main Page and came up with no answer other then I must have made a mistake entering my information. I haven't talked with my bank seeing as how it's a Sunday. My room mate, family, and friends still have not received theirs either as well.

I filed direct deposit via e-file on taxact.com when i filed my taxes at the beginning of february and my social and my husbands are both between 00- 20. we have not recieved our stimulas payment deposit as of this morning and my fathers whose is also between 00- 20 and did direct deposit also has not recieved his either. i thought they said those would be deposited by may 2nd so where is it. i checked the status and it says not done yet. it would be posted one week pryer to being sent. whats going on?

  24. Jolene on May 5, 2008 9:19 am

If you filed electronically with H&R or Turbo Tax – your check will be MAILED OUT not direct deposited. Look for your ss# under the mail category and you will see when your check will come.

  25. Dee Maiopa on May 5, 2008 9:42 am

Well I filed my taxes by Turbo Tax and received my $600 on Friday the 2nd. It sucks there is clearly a problem with the disbursement and yet no news media is reporting on this? Good job George W.

  26. Tiffany on May 5, 2008 9:57 am

  27. David Faust on May 5, 2008 11:16 am

My social security ends in 01 however I have not received anything. We got the first notice from the IRS but we have not received a second notice saying how much we will receive. According to my income I should be getting 1200.00. My question is if we haven't received a second notice does that mean we are not going to receive the stimulas payment?

  28. Ronna Allen on May 5, 2008 2:02 pm

My ss ends in 31 and I tried the tracking yesterday and received the error message but today it gave me an answer and said I would receive mine by direct deposit on May 9. I efiled thru R&R tax. I also checked my daughters ss and it said she would receive 300.00 the same day. I thought she would get 600.00. She works full time but only makes about $7 per hour. Is that why she is not getting as much?

  29. kisha on May 5, 2008 2:34 pm

no David, it doesn not mean that. They said that the money was beating the letter to people. And alot of people have already received their cash and no letters at all. I was told that all direct deposits will be done the week of the 5th ending on May 9th. Paper checks will start May 9th throughout the week of the 16th. I am scheduled to receive mine May 9th I'll just keep checking through Friday and Saturday. I haven't received the 2nd letter either.

  30. kisha on May 5, 2008 2:35 pm

Sorry correction….. I meant the 2nd batch of S.S. numbers will start the week of the 5th

  32. Heather on May 5, 2008 3:42 pm

Well lets see its May 5th now and my ssn ends between 00-20 and I still haven't recieved anything in my bank and I am starting to feel like I am not going to get anything in there. Whats going on?

  33. MLA on May 5, 2008 7:08 pm

The website IS slow with updating. If you call 800-829-1040 and follow the prompts for the stimulus payment and then enter all of the information it ask for then it will let you know if your payment has been processed or not, what your payment is and when it is expected to be deposited. I’m not sure why the website is behind but the hotline number is not.

  34. Cheeryl on May 5, 2008 7:40 pm

Wow, I thought I was the only one going thru all this crap with IRS. They are just plain out right liars. I have not heard one person yet that has gotten any money, the my son along with myself have #'s that are 03 and 11, so now what? It just stinks, I planned bills in hopes of getting it last Friday, and still nothing.

My goodness, we are getting a bit upset over money that is a bonus to us this year! My family too is excited about this but are not counting on this to run out and blow before we even have it. Ever heard of patience!! By the way–just because we have a republican president doesn't mean that the democrats will be any better–hello–they are the majority, not the republicans and if I am not mistaken it was the President's idea to give us this extra refund to begin with. I say thank you Mr President!! With that said I would like to see less government and would be just fine with the fair tax!!

  37. Dee Maiopa on May 6, 2008 9:01 am

LOL, well Kathy, we wouldn't need a rebate if the country was thriving would we. The fact that people are waiting on a payment that has been promised on specific dates for several months, should not require patience. Just another example of the the government not being organized (ie, Katrina), when the American public need them to be. I will say thank you Mr. President, when the next one is sworn in.

  38. Sarah on May 6, 2008 9:30 am

I never received a notice saying that I'd get a rebate at all. My social ends in 20 and I haven't received my deposit either. I filed my taxes online and did direct deposit. When i put in my info on the website, or call the hotline, it just says that there is no specific information about it at this time. what the hell? my friends have gotten theirs…

I'm sure that the vast marjority of the people that are lucky enough to receive this stimulus check hasn't gone out and blown the money before they received it. That's an assumption on your part that was uncalled for. Not everyone is as fortunate to have an emergency fund as other people are.
Gas prices are soaring at an all time high, food prices are on the rise because of the gas prices.

When our 'wonderful' president, yes insert sarcasm here, announced the stimulus/rebate check would be coming to us, there are millions of people rejoicing because it's one of the few things he's done right while he's been office. NO I did NOT vote for this fool and am glad to see him leave soon.

So to assume that these hard working, struggling people have gone out and blown the money before they've received it…is downright rude on your part. You know NOTHING about our lifestyles or what goes on in our lives & households. Shoo, get away and leave us alone with your nose in the air attitude.

  43. Kim Smith on May 6, 2008 11:27 am

My husband and I filed married joint and his last 2 numbers of his social are 14. We were planning on the money to be in our bank May 2nd. It is very frustrating when people whose numbers are after ours have already gotten their stimulus payments and we have not. I too tried to use the Where's my stimulus paymeny on irs.gov and the link doe's not work….it kept saying I made a mistake! I think it boils down to most all of us are hurting for money and it would just be nice to know we have a LITTLE peace of mind knowing our utilities are paid for one more month and we have food on the table. I just wish the government would be straight. With the higher gas prices it seems everyone is pretty much in the same boat. It's a waiting game and it sucks!

  44. Michele on May 6, 2008 1:46 pm

I checked mine yesturday and I will getting mine Friday. I still don't know how it is working. Since I am the one who did the taxes I put my SS# first then my husbands. My # is 14 and his is 51. WE should have gotten it on t he 2nd but we are getting it on his scheduled date. All I have to tell everyone is just keep checking on IRS.gov everyday. Eventually it will tell you something. It told my mother in law that she is not scheduled as of yet. her # end in 77…it's a step from the error message.

  45. Letta on May 6, 2008 1:53 pm

    Trish,

KUDOS to you for telling Katy about the reality of today.

You're right she doesn't know people circumstances and to pass judgement on many just from reading blogs is the wrong thing to do. No matter how much money you have you will always want more! What you do with your money is your own business!!!! Many people are frustrated over the promise that the stimulus checks would arrive early. Now that the time has arrived, where are they?? I haven't seen any news broadcast about people not receiving their money according to the IRS payment schedule. You tell me, how come they haven't broadcasted that on the news??? Hmmmmm…..and that's all i have to say about that!!!!!

  46. Dana on May 6, 2008 4:37 pm

My hubby is the 1st SS# of record, ending in 56. I just checked that page and we are due to recieve the money on May 9th, direct deposit. I had no trouble with the page to find that info out. For my filing info:

We filed directly with the IRS e-file using the free Turbo Tax with NO filing fees since we qualified to do that program through the IRS e-file page. NO direct deposit fee as the IRS processed the 2007 refund and paid us directly. (vrs the past where I used Turbo Tax for a fee and paid SBBT to process the IRS refund to us. Not a loan, just to process the refund. We qualified for the free IRS efile with Turbo tax this past year) In our case, Turbo Tax filed the taxes BUT the IRS did the direct deposit directly themselves)

I would suppose that the page to check the status would not work IF you are not scheduled to recieve it this week. Meaning, if NO direct deposit or IF you paid a filing fee and/or tax refund processing fee through someone OTHER than the IRS, then you will be mailed a check and would NOT be in the system unless you are part of the 1 week of them mailing paper checks. Just my thoughts. Just a shame that so many people are having trouble but I am just thankful to be getting some financial help although I'm not sure it will have the effect the government expects as so many people I know plan on using the money to buy groceries and pay bills that can't wait……..

  47. Dee Maiopa on May 7, 2008 10:45 am

Yes, its interesting that the media has not picked up on the fact that thousands of the stimulus checks have not been received yet. Come on people, email someone, make some noise!!!!

  48. Clemons on May 7, 2008 2:34 pm

You know how we hear everything on the news and around the world. Why is it that we have not heard about all of these people not receiving out checks in a timely manner? I don't believe this crap about last SS #. I have talked to a lot of people and there isn't anyone that has received a check! We are not getting these checks until this summer, if then! Don't hold your breath becuase you will die. The government is lying. The IRS page does not work. This was just something to make us think we had money coming so we could spend what we has and try to replace it back with that!

  49. JAM on May 7, 2008 3:35 pm

Per the calculator on the IRS website I was entitled to 1,415, $1,800 less the amount due to the phase out for income over $150,000.

Received $815 in account on May 2, right on time, wrong amount.

Apparantly, the IRS doesn't recognize my dependants, the notice I recieved on Monday indicates I have no qualifying childen, therefore my payment is short by $600, $300 per kid I don't seem to have.

Phoned the IRS, please give the person on the other end of the phone a break, its not thier fault – the person I spoke with had no more tools available to her to help me with my question than the calculator on the IRS website. She indicated that based on my return and the calculator on the website, I should have received more, but there is nothing they can do about it now.

I sincerely hope my error is a fluke with my information only, because if others who are relying on these funds being accurate and coming to them timely experience this, it will be a nightmare for families trying to make ends meet and for George W. I am very thankful that I didn't need this to survive and worried those that do will be caused additional stress by a poorly executed plan.

  50. Chris on May 7, 2008 4:11 pm

    JAM,
Sorry to here that, however there is a second chance to get your money. Take a look at this article: http://wealthyreader.com/articles/stimulus-payment-some-will-get-second-chance-to-qualify/

Since the checks started going out early there is still some confusion. My SS# ends in 00 and my check will be mailed to me. I guess. Anyway the original date that is set is SS# ending in 00-20 is scheduled to go out on the 16th of May. Wlell since the dates were moved up the irs on their site now has a new date that SS# ending in 00-20 will start going out on the 9th of May. Does anybody know what the true date is? Is it on the 9th or the 16th? Or does it mean that our checks should reach us by the 16th?

  52. Mz. Ash on May 8, 2008 7:42 am

yea I read u that would start sending checks on may 9

  53. Thomas Falzone on May 8, 2008 11:09 am

The whole thing is crazy. They should have told everyone we'll get them by July 4th. Instead we got millions of people thinking the money is in the bank, when it won't be. The word is anyone who used Taxact, H&RBlock direct or any other third party processing will get paper check probably around the end of June. Creating anticipation and frustration is the last thing the stimulus packzge was supposed to create. But they did it.

  54. Trish on May 8, 2008 11:53 am

On the IRS website it states that they(IRS) will be sending out checks for the first batch of SSN# 00-09 starting May 9th and finishing up on May 16th, then 10-20 will be May 23rd and so forth, leading the way to those who will receive paper checks to start receiving theirs in the coming weeks commencing in July. After that then everyone should have theirs and the IRS will be finished with this stimulus/rebate nightmare.

The schedule is right there on the IRS website payment schedule portion.

  55. Casey on May 8, 2008 7:53 pm

My last 2 digits are 29 and I just checked the website (I know I wasn't supposed to until tomorrow but I couldn't stand it!) and it said that I'm scheduled for a direct deposit for tomorrow.

  56. lori on May 8, 2008 8:04 pm

Just wanted to add my two cents….We e-filed and received a direct deposit from IRS. We found out that we too will be recieving a check for our stimulus pament. The reason for ours, is that we split our tax refund between 2 bank accounts. Anyone that split their refund, even though they received direct deposit, will be receiving a check. When, is anyones guess!!!

  57. Casey on May 8, 2008 8:10 pm

OOPS! I also wanted to add that your check will not be direct deposited for one of two things:

    1. You paid for direct depositing out of your refund instead of using a credit or debit card.

    2. You received a paper check for your refund.

  58. TASH on May 8, 2008 11:29 pm

Well today is the 9th, many of us were to be recieving payments Today. Did anyone actually recieve it?When exactly does it show in yOur bank account?

  59. Dana on May 9, 2008 5:43 am

I Posted earlier in the week. This morning the direct deposit came to the bank for the exact amount the IRS said we were getting. ($600 for my hubby and me and $300 each of my 2 kids)

Again, we filed with e-file using the free service because we qualified. IRS let us use Turbo Tax free with NO filing fee and the IRS processed the original tax return refund NOT a 3rd party (normally SBBT does the refunds for Turbo Tax)

We have 2 kids that we got EIC for as they are under 17 and are dependents on our taxes. Hubby's is the 1st SS# of record ending in 56.

I thought this might offer some hope to those still hoping they qualify for direct deposit (we were able to check on our $$ this week using the "where's my stimulus $$" link above. We got the exact amount predicted by the IRS)

  60. Mz. Ash on May 9, 2008 6:22 am

We recieved ours also this morning May 9 and recieved what they said we would.

  61. Trish on May 9, 2008 6:53 am

IF the IRS is 5 days ahead of schedule in sending these checks don't you think they'd update their payment schedule?

Okay so some people are receiving their checks already while most are still getting direct deposit. (that's my understanding from reading other posts)

AND I read on another post that TurboTax offered FREE filing, no fees or anything to the first 2 million people? THAT'S why those people who used it got their rebate checks directly deposited.

We on the other hand have NO scheduled date(s) from the IRS except the payment schedule they have. So hopefully by the end of the month we'll have our check since we had to pay fees with SBB&T.

Unfortunately the IRS website where you can check on the status of your rebate check does not have ANY information regarding our check. *sigh*

  62. Pia on May 9, 2008 8:40 am

    Hi Chris,
Today May 09 is the date the IRS gave for socials ending in 21. The last two of my social is 21, I have checked my account 3 times this morning and there is still nothing.
I did E file through IRS and was charged $19.95 which IRS deducted from my refund before it was direct deposited. I went to the web site for "Where's My Stimulus", this is what it said "We are sorry. Specific information about your Stimulus payment is not available.
    Possible reasons include:

    * Your payment may still be coming, but has not yet been scheduled. Information will be available here as payments are issued based on the last two digits of the primary SSN shown on your 2007 tax return. Specific information about your Stimulus Payment will not be available until about one week before your payment is scheduled to be issued. See the complete Payment Schedule below for more information". Do they make deposits once a day or all through the day, is there someone or someplace else I can question? Your valuable time and effort is so greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Pia :)

  63. Laura on May 9, 2008 8:57 am

You know, I think the IRS really sucks! I dont understand why if you filed through say H&R Block why they are going to MAIL your checks. What difference does it make how it was paid, the fee was paid, now direct deposite our checks. I think that they made this out to be much better then what it is! People expected these checks, made plans to pay bills etc… and yet they want to take their sweet time depositing and sending out checks. and then people arent even going to get what they expected! I was suppose to get mine today, theres been no deposites to my account and they have no information about my check. and i think its going to be mailed because i had the fee's taken out of my check. which i said is a crock of bullsh*t. why does it matter how you paid! IT WAS PAID. And then all these people out there with their heads held high thinking "oh this is just pocket change" "I dont need this money really" but yet its the people who made more money who are getting the $600 and people who made less are getting way less!! ITS BULL.. I HATE THE IRS… RIP OFF'S! Next time they want to "stimulate" something… tell the truth.. and make websites that work!!!!!

  64. Trish on May 9, 2008 9:09 am

    Pia,
I just spoke with my friend who's last two digits of her social are in the same realm as yours, she filed using a tax service and having direct deposit, she confirmed that she received her rebate check this morning in her bank account and yesterday she went to the website to check on the status, it came up with the SAME information you stated above but this morning she got hers. Go figure.

Now I'm not so sure that the information the IRS has on their website is updated and accurate. There are some people that are receiving their payments and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how the IRS is sending these payments.

Personally I don't think it's by the last two digits of the social but rather by LAST name, then the IRS filters which ones were direct deposit and which are paper checks and they're randomly sending out payments. Based on previous posts on these forums I've heard that several if not THOUSANDS have already received their stimulus CHECKS.

Gives ya something to think about now doesn't it?

  65. bridget on May 9, 2008 9:10 am

we got our refund but it was for the wrong amount we have three kids we should have got 2,100.00 and we got 1,500.00 it looks like we didn't get credit for 2 of our kids!Great this will be fun to try to get corrected!!Bridget

  66. Chris on May 9, 2008 9:21 am

    Bridget:
    Check this article out: http://wealthyreader.com/articles/stimulus-payment-some-will-get-second-chance-to-qualify/

You may be able to get a credit next year.

  67. Dana on May 9, 2008 9:25 am

It it were somehow by last name than ours start with a "W" and in life, we are typically the last to get anything when going by our last name. Our direct deposit came this morning (see my earlier posts for my situation)

I did have a thought about kids and the extra $$. We qualified for EIC (like many years, LOL) and I wonder if those having problems NOT getting that money as promised, made too much income to qualify for that tax break and that is why the IRS is dropping the ball with NOT giving some people the extra $300 for each of up to 2 kids UNDER 17 years. (even though qualified for the exta stimulus for the kids) We had no problems. My hubby and I got only $600 together before the kids, because we make too LITTLE for the IRS which sucks as we need the money more to make ends meet but that was a known factor based on the IRS info ;o) Just a few thoughts.

  68. Jared on May 9, 2008 9:26 am

I paid the IRS this year, does anyone know if that makes me only eligible for the paper check? I am between 21-40 and did not receive the direct deposit today??

  69. Amanda on May 9, 2008 9:26 am

We should receive ours today, going by the irs schedule. We have not received it yet. Does anyone know if they send out direct deposit all day or just once a day in the mornings?

  70. Aimee on May 9, 2008 12:28 pm

My last two digits are 09. I went to the IRS and they efiled mine for free. I am on Social Security Disability, and would normally not file but was told to file and write stimulus payment at the top. This was all done by the IRS for me. I did give information for direct deposit so the date said by May 2. I thought maybe because I didn't file until March 28, may be why I am waiting. The IRS website has nothing on mine yet. My father asked me to enter his info. They filed February 4 and was supposed to have direct deposit the same day as me and there is still no information on him? I found out I was getting this money and am counting on it because my son is graduating from high school and without it I will not be able to buy his gift and pay for the party. He has worked so hard to get into the Honors dorms. I would hate to not have the money by his graduation. What is really going on with these payments. I talked to the IRS on May 2nd, and she just kept saying that they were getting out 6 million payments on that day, yet noone I know has received theirs. What is going on????

  71. Angel Dear on May 9, 2008 1:23 pm

Again, why isn't the media picking up on this fiasco? Why?

  72. Chris on May 9, 2008 1:34 pm

    Jared,
You're getting a paper check like me.

  73. Waters on May 9, 2008 1:34 pm

OK, I clicked on the link provided above, provided by someone else, where if they messed up your check you can try to get it straightened out on your 2009 tax return. It says at that web site that this is an advance on our tax returns. ????? So next year, when I get my tax return, they will subtract the $600 from it? I thought this was a straight out stimulus check, not an advance. Now that will really stink if its true!!!

    http://wealthyreader.com/articles/stimulus-payment-some-will-get-second-chance-to-qualify/

  74. Waters on May 9, 2008 1:35 pm

How Can I Qualify Next Year?

Because the stimulus package is actually an “advanced tax credit on the 2008 tax return” you have second chance to qualify. If your tax situation changes you could qualify for the portion of the stimulus payment that you didn’t receive this year.

  75. Jill on May 9, 2008 6:35 pm

Thank you so much for posting the infomration about being charged a fee for e-filing, and how that means a paper check will be issued! I have been going INSANE. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I wonder why this is the case??

  76. amy on May 10, 2008 8:49 am

like everyone above i was suppose to recieve my check yesterday, my # ends in 27 i also did not get any fees taken out of my tax return, so what is the hold up, and what is up with the web site, gives you no information, i tried to call the line is busy and cannot be completed, i dont think they should have told people what time there deposits would be made, so many people were counting on these checks,( i was)i lost my job and pretty much poor, i was hoping to have the extra money to buy some groceries and pay for the extremley high gas prices for my car so i could find another job, but i guess i wait, GOOD GOING BUSH, THANK GOD ITS YOUR LST TERM.

  77. Rickey Reynolds on May 10, 2008 9:38 am

SS ends in 56 scheduled for 5/9 in my account like clockwork. Just me any my wife now though. My kids with dependants are running 1 week behind maybe they are holding onto that extra 300 per child for another week. The only issues I am aware of outside of owing tax, or deliquent student loans are the return for 4/15 has not been processed by the IRS or you filed having the direct file fee deducted from your return. This will result in a paper check, something about a one time event authorization to deduct the fee so the account is not valid for the rebate.

  78. Lynda Vaughan on May 10, 2008 3:59 pm

How is it that when I paid a fee for Direct Deposit of my IRS and State Refunds, and received them into my bank account, that all of a sudden the Economic Stimulus Payment can't be Direct Deposited also? Is this a duplicate charge; are we paying another fee for the Economic Stimulus Payment? Did I miss that in the fine print in my rush to electronically file my tax returns? Doesn't it say anyway that "The Disbursement will be made to me by ACH Direct Deposit."?? I know it refers to the fact that the "Bank is under no obligation to approve my request for an ERD" & "will instead release my ERD to me via a cashers check" but I thought that was referring to a different type of "event" than our Stimulus Payments, such as "suspicious tax returns and/or possible fraudulent IRDs". "Where did it say that this was how these exact payments were going to be handled? I for one, intend to write to President Bush and my Congressman and complain about the fact that a third party bank has somehow been allowed to make money holding millions of dollars of taxpayers funds in their own accounts. Did we all realize that we "authorize(d) and grant(ed) Bank a security interest in the anticipated refund to be paid to me by the IRS for the 2007 tax year and in the Deposit Account described above. In addition, I (a) understand that Bank may pay compensation to my ERO and/or Transmitter for referring me to Bank". Who is being stimulated indeed?!!!

  79. sabrina on May 11, 2008 1:50 pm

my name is sabrina and my last two # of my social is 12 and i still have not received anything.my taxes for 2007 were e-filed and direct deposit. so can someone tell me whats up.i went to the website also for the wheres my stimulus check and it also told me that i had made a mistake. i know i put the right info.i know its free money but its like when we were kids when your parents promised you something you look forward to whatever it was you were promised.so here we are again being promised money 'if we qualify' from the government,we got excited over the dates that it was supposed to come and its not here.so yes i feel like i again have been neglected with a promise that has been broken.so how much longer for the waiting game,or rather will their be one.

  80. sabrina on May 11, 2008 1:56 pm

I KNOW THAT THIS IS FREE MONEY BUT IT WAS SD THAT IF QUALIFIED THE GOVERNMENT WAS GOING TO BLESS US WITH FREE MONEY.WELL I QUALIFY MY LAST 2 NUMBERS OF MY SOCIAL IS 12 AND I DO HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM.THIS MONEY REALLY COULD COME IN HANDY RIGHT NOW.I WOULD TO DO SOMETHING NICE FOR MY KIDS WHILE I HAVE THE TIME,AND I ALSO HAVE A BIRTHDAY COMING UP AND I COULD TREAT MYSELF TO NICE COZY VACATION.SO PLEASE RESPOND BACK I JUST NEED TO KNOW 'WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR ME'.

  82. Dee Maiopa on May 12, 2008 8:26 am

  85. Earl Barnes on May 14, 2008 1:02 pm

I filed my taxes in jan my last numbers in my SS is 24, My taxes was done AND PAID DIRECT DEPOSIT, I already know im getting a paper check, But the thing that really annoys me is, The worthless site that gives you feedback on the amount and day you get your paper check.

Everytime I go to it I get the crappy :We are sorry. Specific information about your Stimulus Payment is not available

I will feel lucky when I actually see any and I mean ANY info on my stim payment, I even used the automatic service and still get the BS message, And calling the IRS direct is worthless.

Basically They give the same info as the website and automatic phone service, Im also good on not counting my eggs before they hatch, So at this point I don't care anymore.

I also feel sorry for anyone that expected a check on a certain day and did not recieve one, There is always the saying, Never trust the GoV, Or believe anything they say or claim, This stim check was supose to help the econ, I think it destroyed it even more and that is thanks to the IRS for making promises that they can't make, If they want to make it better I think the IRS should pay a extra 300 bucks to everyone that has not recieve any info or money.

  86. Trish on May 14, 2008 4:19 pm

Rick did you have RAL? If I'm understanding correctly with H&R Block if you went through them and had your fees taken out of your refund you'll be getting a paper check.

That's just what I've read on several of these forums relating to TurboTax & H&R Block.

I'm not sure as to when paper checks are mailed for someone in your SS# group. However if you look on the IRS website you can get their payment schedule then subtract 1 week from that because they're a week ahead of schedule. :) Hope this helps!

  87. LaDonna on May 14, 2008 5:07 pm

Hi I seen where some have said that paper checks will be mailed a week earlier then what the WEBSITE says is that correct?? I went to check my status and it says will be may 23rd which is what the OLD schedual had said so should I maybe EXPECT it this week ??

  88. Chris on May 14, 2008 5:31 pm

    LaDonna,
They may be coming a week early. It just depends. They will be sent for sure based on the OLD official schedule.
    Thanks

    Crystal,
You'll probably receive a paper check.

  95. Kevin on May 16, 2008 4:09 am

Did anyone get the letter in the mail spelling out how much your stimulus check amount would be for and when to expect it to arrive? I did, said I should receive mine no later than the 16th. I am like everyone else, have lots of bills and was planning on using the money on them. My first expected direct deposit date was May 9, well that came and went like all yours. Yes, its a big let down, maybe they are having problems. Well, its the early morning hours of the 16th, see what happens, I know in the past they usually send out the payments on Fridays, so we will see. I filed my first return middle of January, only to see I had made mistakes, so filed a amended. Both were direct deposit, and I received both via direct deposit. First took about 2 weeks to get, amended took 4, that was pretty fast considering I filed the amended right during the busy time for the IRS. Maybe I'll submit a follow-up once received. My advise to everyone, don't get to upset, and think about how you filed. Were there fees, did you owe or something else. If you have child support, or owe the government, don't expect to just get paid, they will get what is owed. I have child support, its always in arrears, just because the way I get paid, nothing I can do about it, so maybe that is where my hang up is. Each of you know your circumstances, kind of be realistic and keep calm. Thanks.

I totally agree! Our goverment is nothing but a bucnh of liars!!! I filed by turbo tax and paid the fee and did direct deposit and was told it would be direct deposited on May16 coz my ssn ends in 91. This is bull**** I had bills I was counting on paying today and now can't! They can't be bothered to announce this on the news can they, so people are aware. ANd becoz of the form I filled out 1040 its now gonna be mailed out what the h*ll? I can't wait till we get rid of bush! Maybe the next prez will know what the heck he is doing and actually let his country know and not leave them guessing! I now have to call alot of people and tell them that the gov as usual messed up and so I cant pay you today and my kids will have to go hungrey now thanks alot! GRRRRRRR

  97. Chris on May 16, 2008 8:35 am

    Tiara,
Have you tried talking to someone at your local office: http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/index.html ?

  98. Barbara on May 16, 2008 9:10 am

If anyone used TaxAct and had their fees taken out of their refund you will be getting a paper check. It will not be direct deposited. This is what TaxAct's website said.

    PLEASE NOTE:
If you chose the option to have your TaxACT filing fees deducted from your refund, the IRS sent your income tax refund to Republic Bank. The transaction fees and TaxACT's product fees were then deducted, and they forwarded the balance of your refund to your bank account.

Because the IRS is not working through the 3rd party banks to process the Stimulus Payments, you will receive yours by paper check.

Hope this helps clear up some of the confusion.

  99. Trish on May 16, 2008 9:37 am

You know what sucks at times?
It's the fact that all these people posted that they have received their rebate checks whether it was DD or a paper check. Then there are those who claim to have gotten DD on their rebate checks regardless since they used TurboTax and went through Santa Barbara Bank & Trust.

Bob, the VP guy from TT even posted several times asking these people if in fact they did receive their rebate checks from the IRS that they come forward and report to SBB&T because there was NO possible way that it could happen. Well it turns out that not a single person that claimed this has called.

THAT in itself makes you wonder if the people that are claiming to have SS# in the higher numbers receiving paper checks already truthworthy. No wonder everyone thinks that the IRS is all over the board on sending these out. When in fact that's probably NOT the case.

It burns my a$$ when people come here or anywhere else on the internet and start spewing at the mouth things that aren't true.

Personally I haven't received my rebate check yet but it IS schedule to be mailed out on May 23rd. I'm waiting patiently just like everyone else is and for those of you that have posted false information……SHAME ON YOU for causing such mass confusion for everyone. If you can't play nice then DON'T play at all.

  100. Dana on May 16, 2008 10:05 am

    Kevin,

I got the letter in the mail the Monday AFTER the money was Direct Deposited. (mine was deposited on may 9th.) See my earlier posts above for our situation.

I used the free version of Turbo Tax (because we qualified due to low income this last year and also we qualified for EIC for our girls.). We had to go through the IRS e-file page to use that turbo tax version and the IRS processed our 2007 tax refund directly (SBBT was NOT involved and so our personal checking account was on the tax paperwork, NOT a temporariy checking accound number that SBBT puts on the IRS paperwork so that SBBT gets your refund. They then take the Turbo tax fee AND the SBBT fee and then deposit it into YOUR checking account. The IRS never sees your checking account info IF you use SBBT to process your refund in order NOT to pay your filing fee up front. The SBBT temporary checking account in YOUR name, gets closed shortly after the money is moved to YOUR personal bank account)

For now on, I will use the free e-file version of Turbo Tax (if we qualify) or simply pay the Turbo tax filing fee when we do our taxes, NOT use SBBT. Who knows when anohter tax credit like this will happen in the future? Knowing that the IRS had my checking account on that years tax forms may help the money get direct deposited if possible. Normally I am dead broke and use SBBT to NOT have to pay the filing fee up front.

Normally I would be waiting on a paper check but I thank God that this year we qualified for the freebie file………

And in case some of you think we didn't need this money. Well, it paid my mortage this month and is buying us groceries for the next month or 2. Not to mention gas to get to town to earn money at the jobs.

Prior to getting this, I was scared. VERY scared of where that money was coming from. We have been hit with hard times like SO money people and have few bills but fighting to keep income coming in to feed our family of four. Not to mention, we live in the boonies and with gas hitting near $4 or more a gallon, my truck gets parked and used only for grocery shopping. Hubby drives a beat up small car that's easier on the gas and we DON'T spend extra money trying to conserve what we do have. We don't vacation or go places that are unneccesary. With major medical problems in our family, it's been a tough road this year for us. And as we are still a young family, this caught us unprepared. We needed this.

I didn't count on the money and had other plans but we are feeling VERY lucky to be among the few to have gotten the DD. My heart goes out to everyone needing this money as much as we do and I hope the IRS starts to straighten this major mess us and at least get those paper checks out the door.

  101. Debra on May 16, 2008 12:15 pm

My husbands last 2 digits of his SS# are 19. We were suppose to have stimulus check direct deposited on May 2. Today is May 16 and still nothing.

  102. Trish on May 16, 2008 1:53 pm

Debra, I would believe then that you are getting a paper check unless you owe back taxes, student loans or they're reviewing your return.

For the last 2 digits of 19 the schedule on the IRS website states that your check will be sent out May 23rd.

You might want to go to the IRS website and click on 'Where's my Stimulus Rebate' and input your information.

    Good luck

I know i owed a non-tax federal debt, and i receive the information that my regular refund went to them on may 5th. 109. Robert Saylor on May 18, 2008 6:44 am

Hi, I had that problem a few years ago with a normal return. The IRS will not forward but that was many years ago. Best that you check with the IRS or consult with a local tax preparier.

I did finall get through to the IRS and had them caculate my stim payment amount, It could be the reason I can now see my info on the tracking website.

The sad thing about this is all this waiting = That entire check already spent :(

I went to the local IRS department because I couldn't get anyone to answer the 800 number and was due to get mine on May 2. They said that people that normally do not file, but are filing this year for the stimulus, such as Social Security disablility, is taking longer and to give it an extra 2 wks from Wed the date of the bulletin. I can't find it posted on their website or anywhere. PLEASE if anyone has heard anything PLEASE let me know!! Thank you!! I truly NEED this money, as do most people, I'm sure. Thank you!

  115. Kevin on May 18, 2008 7:43 pm

Aimee, I think the answer you got from the local office may be way more correct than any you can get from this site, there are a lot of frustrated people here. Not to put anyone down here, but the answer Aimee posted sounds far more reasonable than just people saying they hate the government and are a bunch of liers. Anyway, Aimee, have you tried to see if you can look up your status at the IRS's official site. Mine finally shows up using my SS#, and I have also received a letter that told me I should have gottem mine on the 16th. I think its just taking them longer than they expected, although transactions are electronic, things have to be verified, and I'm sure they just can't keep pressing along when they start getting a backlogged. As I said in an earlier post, before all this stimulus stuff started, I had used IRS's site to file my 1040, used Direct Deposit and actually received it in 2 weeks, actually under 2 weeks. Found I made mistakes, so right after I received that portion, I filed a amended return for this year, Direct Deposit again at it came back in 4 weeks. So, they aren't slow, I think its as that person told you, they now have more to deal with. We all need our checks, beleive me, just be patient, it will come.

  116. Brenda on May 19, 2008 10:13 am

I, too, am also "one of those" who filed this year (but normally do not have to because of social security disability) for the stimulus payment. I had my return filed at the local i.r.s. office on March 26, 2008. I was told that I would receive my dd on May 16, 2008. Anyways after numerous checking on i.r.s. website (including where's my return and pressing $1 even though I'm not expecting a refund, just checking to see what the status of my return is) I kept receiving the same info "sorry, wrong info" and the rest I'm sure you're aware of reading.

On May 15, 2008, I went to the local i.r.s. office explaining the situation. She had looked the information through their system and came back to me with a reply "All it shows in the system is that our office mailed your copies to the processing office located in MA on 3/26/08 and nothing else. I then became a little more agitated and told her it's been 7 weeks and one day since I filed with them and gave her my copy of the return. She shrugged me off, proceeded with someone else and I left. Later that evening I went online again to check see if any new info was available. ON the where's my refund page it did show then that they did receive my return and is now being processed.

Okay, it's now May 19, 2008 and still no info available on the where's my stimulus payment.

  117. Kevin on May 19, 2008 5:45 pm

Well folks, I said I would update if/when I received my stimulus payment, and today that day finally came. It wasn't direct deposit, but a check, which is probably why it took so long. Anyway, again I just wanted to let everyone know, and again to tell all, be patient, it will come.

  118. tracy on May 21, 2008 6:27 am

My parents didnt get a check. I dont know why their adjusted gross was high enough but had no tax liability would that had affected thier payment because I cant figure it out. They also draw S.S checks. So I know they had enough income. Could you please explain this because if it goes by tax liability amounts nobody on S.S will get anything.

  119. anne on May 21, 2008 8:42 am

hmm..i posted a comment but now don't see it. i've tried calling the irs but with every number i call, including my local office, i only get a recording, no option to get a live person. people with ss # around and above me have rec'd their cks but i can't get info on the website. i filed with tt and sbbt, back in jan so i was hoping i would be one of the few first, even though my ss is in the 50's. no 2nd letter either. i had no tax due, filed a plain 1040, nothing fancy, head of household, 3 kids, no stores of wealth anywhere, rent, etc. i know some people have had luck getting a live person – but irs not giving any explanation of why paper checks are so scattered? and what about the 1500 people who had their money dd somewhere else? how do you find this info out if no one at the irs will talk to you? laid off for 4 mos, just started working but still have a mountain of past due stuff – really wish i could get some taken care of.

  120. Chris on May 21, 2008 8:45 am

    Tracy,
How do you know they didn't get a check? The IRS is still in the process of sending them out.

  121. Kimberly on May 21, 2008 9:10 am

I have no idea what to make of this. . . on Sunday May 18 our status was finally available on the irs web site and said our rebate would be issued on the 30th. I have checked the status numerous times since, went again today (obsessed, I know) and it now says "We are sorry. Specific information about your Stimulus Payment is not available." However, if I use my ssn instead of hubby's, it still says it will be issued on the 30th. What is up with that?
Also, has anyone else had their information available 12 days or so before their check was issued? I thought they said it would only be available about a week before the check was mailed.
    Thanks!

  122. Brenda on May 21, 2008 9:50 am

Hi it's me again. I forgot to mention that my parents also receive ss disability and had their taxes filed at the same i.r.s. office five days prior to me. They received their stimulus payment by dd on the scheduled date.

Anne, call the i.r.s. at 1-800-829-1040. When asked to push a button for why you're calling, don't. You'll then hear the spanish recording of what was said, then it'll say either press a # or say the number. At that time press teh number for where's my refund, even though that's not why you're calling. At that point press 3 for stimulus payment. You'll wait for about 15 mins. after that recording it finished, but at least you'll get to speak with an agent. At least that's what i did when I called yesterday to find out about my situation. Tracy, there's a special category for people receiving benefits and have no tax liability. And yes they should receive a payment, unless they owe back taxes or federal debt of any kind. Also, did they have their return filed by someone else that charged them? If so, that could be the holdup as well. I was told by the i.r.s. agent to contact the i.r.s. after 10 business days from the date it was to be issued on.

  123. anne on May 21, 2008 9:53 am

Brenda – thanks for the info but it gives a recording that they will not be taking calls at this time. Try later or the next business day.

  124. Chris on May 21, 2008 10:58 am

    Kimberly,
Which SSN did you list first on your tax return? That's the SSN that the IRS should be using.

  125. Kimberly on May 21, 2008 2:24 pm

Chris~ The first ssn listed was my husbands. I don't understand why they would have the information there (under husband's ssn)for a couple of days saying we would be issued a check May 30th, then take it down saying no specific info. . . did they change their minds? I checked again and it is the same. Info under his ssn is gone, under my ssn is still there. Weird.
    Thanks!

  126. LaDonna on May 21, 2008 3:46 pm

good luck to everyone. maybe after this fiasco, they are printing cks 24/7 and we'll all have ours asap. hahaha – i kill myself! i forgot who we were dealing with. (sorry – very long day at work!)

  128. Val on May 23, 2008 6:05 pm

On the Where's my refund? My brother's says his check is SCHEDULED TO BE MAILED and on mine it says SCHEDULED TO BE ISSUED. I sound dumb, but what the heck is the difference. Patiently awaiting.

  129. Mary on May 24, 2008 3:45 pm

This year I filled my taxes on time had my refund direct deposited…… but my daughter takes college classes so I was able to claim the fee's that I Paid….. My regular refund was direct deposited, because I filed my taxes electronically I had to file a amended return for the refund i was getting for my daughters college courses, which went by paper and i got a paper check.. I was scheduled to get my rebate on 5/16 never came I received a letter that I would get it on 5/23 nothing. I called the IRS didnt push any button finally got a hold of someone I told them i wanted verify that they had my account right, because I heard that there was a computer error and money was getting posted to the wrong accounts, they told me because i filed a amended return I cant get direct deposit, my rebate will be by mail. Now that sucks they should have said on there website reasons for getting a paper check instead of direct deposit so people wont be waiting or wondering. I do have to say the lady I spoke with was nice and actually took her time to research my account.

  130. Emily L. on May 25, 2008 5:23 pm

I don't get it, my cousin received her check by mail last week her last two is 51 mine is 53 and I still haven't heard anything. I filed in early feb. Are they sending some out early because she is by the payment schedule due in june one week before mine is supposed to be issued…this is all very confusing!

  131. mellie on May 27, 2008 5:15 am

Well mine says it will be mailed out the 23rd which would be just this last Friday and since today is Memorial Day I won't see any mail at all but I haven't received a second letter, however I have checked out the website and it did confirm the check will be mailed out the 23rd. I didn't do direct deposit, I did the RAL I will let you all know when and if I receive this check by tomorrow or this week at all.

  132. Crissy on May 27, 2008 6:26 pm

Confused, the last 3 years my refund has came via electronic banking, for some reason my stimulus payment is coming by pony express this time, not eft. It says it was mailed on this 16th it is now the 27th and still nothing… and my last numbers are 05 hmmmm this does not compute. Any help from the IRS?

  133. Mary on May 28, 2008 1:30 pm

I haven't received anything via direct deposit or mail and the website sorry not available at this time. My direct deposit was due May 9. Anyone have this problem?

  134. eddie rice cole on May 28, 2008 5:21 pm

I haven't received any payments; I was told by mail it would be made on May 23,2008. Why?

  135. wendy on May 30, 2008 10:04 pm

ok so the irs.gov website Did have my info saying my check would be mailed on June 6th, so I decided to check it again today just to see if maybe they mailed it early, and now the website says Sorry No info. Does anyone Know why this would happen, this has me alittle concerned. Thanks

  136. Chris on May 30, 2008 10:05 pm

    Wendy,
I believe the sit will only have info after your check has been mailed. Doesn't make much sense does it?

Unfortunately that's all we have to work with at the moment.

  137. Donnie on May 31, 2008 10:20 am

My SSN ends in 00-20 it's ( 12 )Today is the May 31 should I just stop thinking I'm even getting a payment??

  138. Lare on May 31, 2008 10:59 am

Wendy, in response to your concern, I'm experiencing the same problem. A couple days ago the IRS website was able to give me information stating that my check would be mailed by 5/30, however, when I checked it again last night as well as today, it's say that there is no info at this time. Perhaps this means they were mailed out?

  139. RACHEL A. MINCHEW on May 31, 2008 11:16 am

I want to know where is my stimilus check? Myy SS ends in 2058. This is May 31 and no check yet. Thanks

  140. Dana on May 31, 2008 11:26 am

Rachel, based on the schedule below, if you are due a mailed check, it won't be mailed until about JUNE 20. Supposedly paper checks arrive the Monday-Wednesday AFTER the mail date below. Here's the scheduled paper check mailing dates. I have NO idea if these are on time and I know that if your tax filing was different than the norm, there can be a delay. Some people's rebates are being held (SUPPOSEDLY) for the IRS to look at more in depth. Hope the schedule below helps at much as IRS schedules can, LOL. Dana

    PAPER CHECK

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed no later than (and received a few days after):
    00 through 09 May 16
    10 through 18 May 23
    19 through 25 May 30
    26 through 38 June 6
    39 through 51 June 13
    52 through 63 June 20
    64 through 75 June 27
    76 through 87 July 4
    88 through 99 July 11

  141. wendy on May 31, 2008 12:18 pm

Thanks Chris, I was worried about that, maybe it does mean the checks were sent out.. thanks for the response

  142. Sara on May 31, 2008 3:37 pm

I am supposed to get mine May 30 by mail as well. I checked online, and it still says it is "scheduled to be mailed May 30th". Anyone else seeing their checks "scheduled" for days prior to the day they check the site?

  143. Sara H on June 1, 2008 1:03 pm

I got a letter that said I would get mine BY May 30th. The website said it will be mailed ON May 30th. So I guess we will see in the next few days if I get it. Seriously NOT holding my breath.

  144. Lare on June 1, 2008 1:38 pm

I'm sure the letters we received stating we'd receive the check by 05/30 is incorrect and what it should have said is that they'd be mailed by 5/30. Both the IRS website and the automated phone system say "mailed by 05/30." No biggie, this just means we'll get it early next week.

  145. Lilith on June 1, 2008 7:05 pm

SO WHICH PAYMENT SCHEDULE SHOULD IGO BY ?THE EARLY ONE OR THE ONE THAT IS ON IRS WEBSITE?CAN SOME ONE TELL ME,PLEASE MY LAST TWO #ARE 54

  146. Sara H on June 1, 2008 8:07 pm

Now the website says there is no information available about my status.

Lilith I would go by the June 20th date.

  147. Lare on June 1, 2008 11:26 pm

Mine has no information either anymore. The website had information up until 05/29 but when I checked it on the 30th, it said no information was available. I'm assuming this means my check was sent out.

  148. Val on June 2, 2008 11:35 am

Okay, so I have been able to see my info on the website for about 2 weeks now. it says will be mailed by 30th, letter says "will have" by the 30th. I didn't get a second letter though. Everyone keeps saying that it will only be on the website if its mailed. Oh yeah, one more thing. This morning i went to the website to see if anything different, well couldn't get it by Husb (head of household) but able to get it off of mine. In the past, i always put his info in. hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  149. Sara H on June 2, 2008 11:56 am

Val, I have the exact same thing going on with me. I got the same letter that stated BY the 30th, then the web site said mailed ON the 30th. The phone # for the IRS said mailed ON the 30th. Then now the website doesn't have any information. I can get information with my ss# but not my husbands. I am thinking maybe it means the checks are in the mail. So I guess we will see. I have some things I want to do with the money but I am not really making any plans for it until I have it. The only thing I know for sure is where the first 10% is going.

  150. anne randall on June 2, 2008 11:57 am

sara & lare – would you mind posting if you do get your check this week. that might end some confusion as to why people see info on the site, and then it disappears – would verify that it is possible your info drops off once your check is sent.

    thanks!

  151. Kimberly on June 2, 2008 12:19 pm

For those of you wondering about their info being on the irs website then being gone. . . on May 21st I posted on here that my husbands info had disappeared, I didn't get an answer, but later that day, the info using my ssn disappeared as well. Our info was back up within a couple of days still saying we were to have our check issued on May 30th. It is now June 2nd and I have yet to receive my check, I figure it will be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Point being, the check was not mailed when the info disappeared. Looks like it is just a ruse from the irs to get us freaked out and hopeful all at once.

  152. Sara H on June 2, 2008 12:34 pm

I just have to say that the anxiety that this has caused so many people is unreal. With the prices of EVERYTHING going up people are ready to have this money in hand.My husband works in retail And I tell you people are stealing the basics from where he works. It is so sad people have to decide on $3.00 for a gallon of milk or $4.00 for a gallon of gas. My husband has decided to buy a good bike IF we ever get this money and ride to work. He has decided 4.5 miles one way is worth saving the $4.00 in gas. Even my 18 yr old who can drive knows the $30.00 bus pass is better then spending all of his money from his part time job just on gas for his car.My husband just chased a guy out of the store and when he caught up with him the guy stole RID Lice Shampoo. He told my husband he has 3 daughters and no money to treat them. As bad as it sounds my husbands heart broke and he let him go. I dont know why it has to come down to this. My husband has a good job with good benefits and we still are not making it. We recently decided to get into a home based business to make a few hundred more dollars a month. We are but my husband is spent working a full time job then coming home and showing people this business. LOL we actually found one that we make a check at LOL. So yes it is worth it as it pays us something. People just want this money to do extra with. The whole thing is maddning!

  153. Sara H on June 2, 2008 12:37 pm

And yes I will let you know if we get our check this week.

  154. Lare on June 2, 2008 1:50 pm

Just an update in regards to the information on the IRS website not being available anymore. My partner, who's SSN# ends in 33, was able to check the IRS website and get info regarding his stimulus check. The website had previously stated that the check would be issued on 06/06/08; he also received a letter on saturday stating the same information, however, when he checked the website today it states that no information is available at this time. I'm thinking this may be a glitch in the IRS system as it seems strange that a number of us are experiencing this problem.

  155. Val on June 2, 2008 2:15 pm

okay, so as i said earlier, mine says mailed by the 30th. ssn is 25… anyone please let me know when they get theirs around that time. can't check mail till later. thanks

  156. Sara H on June 2, 2008 2:26 pm

Well I didn't get a check but I got a letter telling me where the money went. $1728.00 to a student loan. I guess I can't complain that the government took their own money to pay off some of my debt.BUT it does suck as it would have been nice to have. Oh well.

  157. Val on June 2, 2008 2:34 pm

sarah, how much were you actually suppose to get?

  158. anne randall on June 2, 2008 3:00 pm

what? a glitch in a government system?

  159. anne randall on June 2, 2008 3:05 pm

    to sara –
that is a sad story. i, single parent $60/wk for child support for my 7 yr old twins – know how it feels. we eat lots of pasta, pbj's, cereal, pancakes – but they don't mind, at least. they like all that stuff anyway – so i'm lucky there. and i buy their clothes at a 2nd hand store. it's a terrible thing when you can't buy the necessary items needed to live. and no one is raising a finger to do anything. everyone is so consumed with the election – it appears nothing else matters. Oh, kennedy's tumor matters – i've seen that all over the place.

  160. Val on June 2, 2008 3:07 pm

Anyone out there that can please tell me this…. we owe some, not all, of our stimulus to the state taxes. ours is suppose to be sent by may 30th. anyone in this situation that got theirs on schedule minus the owed taxes????? please advise…

  161. kari on June 2, 2008 3:35 pm

we are supposed to get our check mailed no later than June 6th and we still have not got a letter from the IRS, that most people are getting about a week before their checks are supposed to be mailed. Is anyone else having this problem or do you think I should just be patient. Thanks

  162. Chris on June 2, 2008 4:03 pm

    Kari,

My partner's check is scheduled for 06/06 and he just got his notice this Saturday so don't worry, I'm sure your letter is coming. It may just take longer for you to get the notices depending on where you live. My check was scheduled for 05/30/08 and I didn't get the notice until 05/28/08.

  164. Sara H on June 2, 2008 5:32 pm

I was supposed to get 1728.00 My student loan got it all. What really sucks is they got my whole tax return too and I still owe about 6000.00 Im guessing Im not going to be getting a tax return for some time. I am now on disability because I have lost most of my vision due to diabetes along with some other health issues, So all that school I went to…no good now.

  165. Kimberly on June 2, 2008 7:23 pm

I got my check today so they sent it on the 30th as stated. SSN ends in 21.

  166. Juliet on June 2, 2008 7:33 pm

The "Where is my Stimulus Payment" tool finally showed information on my rebate last saturday (May-31), It stated the amount and when it would be mailed. Today (6-2) when I try to pull it back up, its back to saying there is no information in the system. Last two of SS is 47 so its not scheduled to be mailed until June 13th, but I am a little concerned about it being th ere and then being gone, it just seem's wierd.
Has this happened to anyone else?

  167. Lare on June 2, 2008 7:38 pm

That gives me hope, mine ends in 21 as well. Leaving the office in 20 min. I'll post a reply if I get the check.

Got my check today. Sent on 30th.

  169. Val on June 3, 2008 11:15 am

Woo Hoo! Check came…. get this though… we have a balance on our state taxes. We have been making payments on it. I was told and read in so many emails that they take the balance owed from stimulus check…. NOPE! I got it all! When I talked to a rep for IRS in state i live, he said that some people are getting their full amount. I was one! yay!

  170. Chris on June 3, 2008 11:32 am

    Val,
That's good news. Now put that money to good use.

  171. Sara H on June 3, 2008 11:34 am

You probably got it because you are making payments on your debt. I was currently not making payments on one student loan but I was the other. So the one I was not paying on got it.

  172. cherie on June 3, 2008 4:23 pm

we still did not get our stimulas check yet it was due may 9 I got ahold of irs they have return and it is still being processed it has been nine weeks since they got it how can it take so long for direct deposit

  173. Juliet on June 3, 2008 7:55 pm

Direct Deposit Vs. Paper Check Payment Schedule:

Some folks are getting a paper check instead of direct deposit, even if they elected thier refund as direct deposit – they announced later into the tax season that if you had filing fee's, or an instant refund loan then you would get a paper check (which is different payment schedule) instead of direct deposit – even though you selected direct deposit for your refund…
I am not sure if this applies to you but hope it helps.

  174. Juliet on June 3, 2008 8:06 pm

If you owe debt and want to find out if you will recieve your stimulus payement then here is a number I found on the turbotax website that should help. This is an automated system for the Treasury Offset Program, you can call and enter your ss# to find out if there is any debt offeset against any federal payments.

800-304-3107 (When you get the below options, USE OPTION 2 and not option 1.)
    1 – 2008 Economic Stimulus Payment
2 – 2008 Federal Refund or any Federal payment

  175. anne randall on June 4, 2008 7:11 am

juliet, thanks so much for that info. i didn't think I had any debt to payoff but it was nice to hear it. then again….

just found this….cks were early, then delayed, now will speed up again

By Ben Rooney, CNNMoney.com staff writer
    May 30, 2008: 5:57 PM EDT

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The Treasury Department said Friday it sent out 5.7 million economic stimulus payments this week, totaling more than $4 billion, as part of the government's plan to reinvigorate the nation's sluggish economy.
This week's total was the lowest since the first payments went out on April 28
In the first week, Treasury sent out $7.1 billion and last week, Treasury mailed more than 6.2 million checks totaling about $5 billion.
To date, Treasury has distributed more than 57.4 million stimulus payments, totaling more than $50 billion.
The pace of printing and mailing the stimulus checks has slowed in recent weeks as Treasury facilities have been working to get regular income tax refund checks out in a timely fashion simultaneously. But the slowdown is just temporary.
The department expects weekly volumes to increase in June when regular tax refund mailings are complete.

  177. Rachel on June 4, 2008 10:49 am

Unfortunately we are waiting for a paper check that was to be distributed May 23. We have not recieved any confirmation via the mail (as the IRS website said we would a week prior to our payment). When I go on line to check status we get a big SORRY everytime. We mailed our taxes (which we owed on and paid) on April 14th, anyone have any idea when we should see something???

  178. Chris on June 4, 2008 12:24 pm

    Rachel,
If the last 4 digits of the ssn of the person listed FIRST on the return are between 10 – 18 then you check have already been sent.

Have you moved, filed an amended return or anything else?

If it doesn't arrive in the next week or so, you might want to try contacting the IRS: http://wealthyreader.com/articles/economic-stimulus-payment-irs-phone-numbers/

  179. Crissy on June 7, 2008 8:16 am

Hey anyone waiting for your check, I have filed electronically for the last 5 years, well my tax preparer had a po box plus my physical address, in my address field, from 5 years ago. Well guess what that is where my refund went, to the PO box. So now it has to be rejected from the post office, sent back to the irs on June 17 I am to call them and let them know I have not received this check, IF they received it back, they will reissue it to me. If not they need to launch and investigation…. then after they figure it out they will reissue me the check…. Well I can bet you any amount of money, that if I owed them that amount of money, They would have had my physical address, not the po box. I even talked to someone prior to checks going out at the irs and they confirmed my physical address and never once said anything about the po box. My next venture is going to be figuring out how I can get a job at the irs as you don't need to be very smart to work there. And don't kid yourselfs about that this is free money, this is not free money, this is an advance on our 2008 refund so expect your 2008 actual refund to be less this dollar amount that we get now. The irs is the only one that can screw you and get away with it. Without vaseline yet too. Have a great Day folks. Keep your heads high, and smile. Thats all we can do.

Filed jointly by mail on April 15th both our SS#'s end in numbers that should have been in the first run. It is not June 8th and still have nothing deposited to bank account that is listed on line 74A of 1040 form. We owed Uncle Sam and that check has cleared. Everytime we go to the Stimulus Refund site we are told "Sorry, there is no information about your stimulus rebate." Hmm, it's been 7 weeks since we filed…is there something we're missing (other than the rebate, I mean)?

  181. Chris on June 8, 2008 10:26 am

You can contact the IRS. If you have the time I would go directly to the IRS office: http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/index.html

Otherwise you can contact the IRS via phone.

The Treasury Dept announces, on a weekly basis, the total number of stimulus payments that have been sent to households: # of cks and the tot $ of those cks.

    wk 4 – 5/19-5/23 – 6.211 million cks were sent
    wk 5 – 5/26-5/30 – 5.757 million cks went out
    wk 6 – 6/2-6/6 – 9.143 million cks

5/9 & 5/12 had the most going out – 15 to 22 million – most likely due to the number of direct deposits.

at least the 1st week of june had almost twice as many cks sent as the week before. maybe this week – no update yet, will have more than that and some of us will get a pleasant surprise early. well, ok, there is some hope.

ck out the website – i believe it's updated on monday's

  187. LaDonna on June 30, 2008 11:04 am

We only got 600.00 for being married but did get 300 for each of are 5 kids , we only made 29000.00 why did we not get 1200.00 for being married

  188. Melinda on July 1, 2008 8:35 pm

So I recieved my notice today that we will get our payment by the 5th, but the 4th is a holiday and the 5th is saturday. do you think that it might be earlier or later? or maybe right on time?

  189. Chris on July 1, 2008 9:36 pm

    Melinda,
If I were betting, I would bet on Saturday the 5th.

  190. Mary H. Cooper on July 2, 2008 12:04 pm

Where is my economic stimulus check? The last two digits of my SSN is 75.

  191. Chris on July 2, 2008 2:15 pm

    Mary H. Cooper,
It's probably in the mail. Be patient.

  192. maxine thorpe on July 2, 2008 2:54 pm

i received a letter from irs that i should received my stimulud on june 6th dut still have not received it.

  193. Chris on July 2, 2008 2:55 pm

    Maxine,
Then you need to contact the IRS.

You can find the contact info in this article:

    http://wealthyreader.com/articles/when-will-i-get-my-stimulus-check/

  194. Melinda on July 5, 2008 12:27 pm

I just don't understand Chris, Today is the 5th and no stimulus check. I recieved the letter stating I would recieve it by the 5th. Is it because of the holiday maybe?

  195. Melinda on July 7, 2008 1:47 pm

    Again no check today. Frustrating!!!

  196. Melinda on July 7, 2008 2:57 pm

well I contacted the IRS and told them that the letter I recieved stated that I would recieve my check by the 5th of July. She informed me that I read the letter wrong and that it was sent out on the 5th and it would be here sometime this week. I think she lied because the 5th was on a Saturday and we all know that the IRS doesn't work on the weekends. She didnt even take my social security number. What a liar!

  197. Heather on July 7, 2008 3:46 pm

STIMULUS PAYMENT: IT SAYS IF YOU MADE OVER $3,000, THEN IT'S $600 SINGLE, $1,200 MARRIED, AND $300 PER CHILD UNDER 17. WELL, I MADE OVER $3,000, AND I'M SINGLE, AND CLAIMED TWO CHILDREN ON MY TAXES. THAT WOULD BE $1,200 THAT I'M SUPPOSE TO GET FROM THE STIMULUS PAYMENT, BUT YET I ONLY GOT $900. PLEASE TELL ME HOW THAT HAPPENED?

  198. maxine thorpe on July 7, 2008 7:54 pm

today is the 7th of july and still no check and icould really use that money like right now iam ready to blow my top because i reakky work very hard irs take and when its time to give back there is always a problem.

  199. Chris on July 7, 2008 9:33 pm

    Heater,
Actually, if you make over $3,000 then you just qualify for the $300 payment. You have to have a tax liability to get more than $300. So $900 is probably right as your 2 children give you pretty good tax deductions on a single income.

  200. nette on July 8, 2008 10:29 am

i guess i really got lucky! i owed back taxes for 2007 in the amount of 2160 and i received my entire stimulus payment off 900. but on the flipside of things, my ex owed me over 8000 in childsupport and he got his stimulus of 600 too so hey i guess i cant complain. we both got lucky because what i have read here and heard int he streets they should have taken them both but hey i got mine and it was right on schedule.

  201. Thomas on July 8, 2008 3:32 pm

Well, here it is the second week in July. Hopefully. this Stimulus Nightmare is finally over.

I finally received mine on June 16th and noticed a long line of people at the bank on a Monday, where its usually empty.

If they do this again next year I hope they do a couple things different.

    1) Don't promise early delivery or Direct Deposit if IRS can't do it.
    2) Tell people the correct amount and don't exaggerate. I remember when it was first proposed, they envisioned it at $1,000 per person and $2,000 per couple.
    3) Don't say that almost EVERYONE will get one when they can't deliver and tack on a bunch of exception.
    4) Just lower our taxes instead of making a fake Stimulus package

  202. Melaney on July 10, 2008 11:15 am

They should have never specified specific dates to the people. You have a lot of people counting on that day that was told to you and then it comes and still no check. My husband was told it would be mailed out no later then July 4th. That was a holiday no one was open pretty ignorant on some people's part. My husband sent a change of address form like the second week of June and you can't even speak to a live person to follow up on it. It is so crazy and a bunch of crap.

  203. Renee on July 14, 2008 11:57 am

Ok my dad and mother both get SSI and my dad gets disability and he was told he would get a check is this correct? he has not recived a check as of today.

  204. Chris on July 14, 2008 1:11 pm

    Renee,
Did you parents file taxes? If they did they can estimate their payment at the IRS site: http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/

They need to file to get a check.

  205. Brian on July 15, 2008 9:59 am

According to the irs.gov website, my check was supposed to be mailed on June 27. I recently moved. Will the USPS forward stimulus checks to my new address, or do I need to contact the IRS?

  208. Cantrelle on July 17, 2008 1:50 pm

My check was sent to the wrong address and the people their say that they did not get it it was mailed on May 23 this is 2 months and no check if someone has my check be aware cause you will be in some big trouble when they (irs) catches up to you I'm gonna press charges on you to the fullest. Today is July 17 so if you know who got my check tell them to give it to me. The IRS is on the job dont be scared just do the right thing. God Bless.

  209. deronica on July 20, 2008 12:23 pm

Ater scanning threw all of the comments, I did not see anyone mention that the the government sent them a letter stating that if they owe the IRS, then the stimulus check would go towards the amount that is owed. My husband and I received a letter stating that our 1200.00 had been sent to IRS for taxes we owed. I thought the purpose of the stimulus check was for us to do with what we wanted to do, but we did not have that priviledge to decide. They decided for us. SO IF YOU OWE THE GOVERNMENT after filing your tax, FORGET IT! You will NOT receive anything if you owe more than 1200.00

  210. JANICE on July 21, 2008 1:03 pm

i HAVE CHECKED ON STATUS OF STIMULUS CHECK AND WAS TOLD THAT i DID NOT QUALIFY BECAUSE QUALIFING IMCOME WAS NOT HIGH ENOUGH. My husband passed away March 24, 2008, and we filed jointly. We both received soc. sec. and I received a retirement check. I don't understand about qualifing income. We always file each year. What's the deal.

  217. WILLIAMSON, ARTHUR L. on May 2, 2009 2:09 pm

I am very disappointed in the way the 2007 and the 2008 stimulus money was given. I was a DOD civilian working for the Army and retired Oct 2007. After recieving a letter that I would be getting a payment I did not get one because my wife TIN was on my tax return. I tried in 1999 to get her a social security number but have a letter that stated she would not be issued one and to use the TIN when the number was required. If we which are many have known this our wives names would not have been place on the return, but there was no notice that this would be a factor. I earn US dollars and pay US taxes so how can you say that because of my wife I would not get anything.

What are you trying to tell us that because we married a local national that we do not have the rights that other AMERICANS have? I feel that if my wife did not receive anything I have a good Social Security and should have gotten payments.

I also feel that something is very much wrong with our system if this is the way thing are.

    Waiting your reply.

  218. Billy on May 27, 2009 10:38 pm

I'm disabled and received a Stimulus Payment Check last year. I read somewhere here on a site that my check would be arriving around/on the 24th of May, 2009 – and it's now the 27th. I clicked on the link you have listed above but there is a break in the link – so I don't know what to do. My roomate received his check two days ago and being on a Social Security Disability Income (not even the Minimum Wage), I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE getting a check that I thought I was intitled to. Anyone got any answers out there? Thanks a lot – !
