Is there anything in this economy that isn't costing us more? The latest price hike comes from FedEx, which will raise shipping rates for its Ground and Home Delivery packages by an average of 4.9% in 2010. That's 1 percentage point less than this year's rate hike.Granted, that isn't a lot, but it's still higher.

FedEx announced in September that it will increase shipping rates for Express packages within or from the U.S. by an average of 5.9% in 2010. That's 1 percentage point lower than FedEx's rate increase this year. That's partially offset by a lower fuel surcharge.

The rate increases will go into effect on Jan. 4.

Forget competitors. UPS is also raising their rates. Things just aren't easy on you if you ship  a lot of items for your business.
