When it comes to creating and maintaining wealth, you want to educate yourself. Don't go looking at the government as a model. That would be disaster. Think of the government as a large company or corporation.
The government likes to send plenty of money overseas. To other companies if you will. Meanwhile, there are areas of it's own company that are in dire disarray. (Homelessness, healthcare.) Would any company in it's right mind throw money elsewhere that needs to be pumped back into itself to better the whole? I don't think so.
Another thing this huge company does is constantly overeact to threats and scare the American people. On a regular basis. Whether its bird flu, terrorism, or what have you. Can you imagine a company overreacting to all sorts of things like this and constantly pissing off shareholders, while they constantly lose consumer confidence?
The moral of the story is to educate yourself. When you realize what a poorly run company our government is, it illustrates the need to depend on yourself, take nothing for granted and use only your own knowledge as a model.
